Back in June at E3 ’09, five months before the game was even released, Microsoft announced that the first two Modern Warfare 2 map packs would be “timed exclusive” for the Xbox 360 (the Xbox would get the map packs for a limited time before other systems). What Microsoft didn’t mention was how long the Xbox would have the exclusivity deal for… until now.

The first Modern Warfare 2 downloadable content will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 for 30 days. Speaking to Eurogamer, a Microsoft spokesperson had this to say..

“We have a 30-day timed exclusive on the Modern Warfare content packs, so it will be available on other platforms, but you get to try and play on Xbox 360 first.”

The first Modern Warfare 2 map pack is due to be released this spring but an exact date has yet to be locked down. That clears that up!

Now that Infinity Ward have returned to work after the Xmas break, what will their focus be? It’s something that has been playing on my mind over the last few weeks, will they fix the game, add new features or start on map pack one (DLC)?

Well, Infinity Ward’s front man, Robert Bowling, left no doubt as to what would be happening next via his favoured method of communication, a tweet. Who would of guessed it, Infinity Ward will now focus on making more money DLC.

OK, we all know that DLC rocks but wouldn’t it be nice if Infinity Ward listened to some community feedback and what they want in the first Modern Warfare 2 map pack? They [IW] did promise to listen to what the community wants after the first two map packs but why not the first two!
