Stimulus Package Sets New Xbox Live Sales Record
Stimulus Package Sets New Xbox Live Record
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 publishers, Activision, today announced that the Stimulus Package, the first map pack released for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was downloaded over one million times on Xbox Live in the first 24 hours.
First week sales for the MW2 map pack reached 2.5 million downloads in total. The Stimulus Package is currently only available for download on Xbox Live, making these sales all the more impressive.
To put those figures into perspective, first-week sales of the first map pack for Call of Duty: World at War reached one million downloads across Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
Microsoft also had some other interesting MW2/Xbox Live statistics to share – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players have invested more than 1.75 billion hours of gameplay on Xbox LIVE alone since the title’s release in November, which is equal to more than 200,000 years of gameplay playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

@Josef, yeah but you guys are the ones getting ripped off. Microsoft got it early just so they could make more money. Yeah they spent alot but they easily made that back. I think online gaming should be free to everyone

@is it a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake?, true but we pay so Microsoft can fix glitches and hackers so the game is fair also we get better connection in australia playing xbox than ps3

@Josef, You clearly have not heard of the phrase “PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET”. You pay for quality. Or rather, us Xbox 360 owners pay for quality, instead of some bare-bones free service.

@is it a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake?, the PS3 Network is rediculous and risky. It’s been downed by hackers before, and it will happen many more times. If all online gaming was free, no one would have the motivation to keep it running. Either all the hard work keeping the server running would be completely voluntary, or the owner of the server would lose an ass-load of money just to keep people like you happy. GG.

@guest, The prices differ by how you pay for it. Its $20 for 3 months, which comes to $80 if you do it that way.
$8 a month (Or $7, not completely sure) which comes out to $96 a year (Or $84 is its 7 a year)
Then $50 a month if you do the 12 month plan. I renew my subscription online so that doesn’t factor in tax and/or gas money if one were to purchase a card.
Also the prices differ by country.

@guess, when your not relying on parents cash i guess some dont buy according to the best option, they buy according to the only option available in their pocket. Its kinda like cigarettes…some buy by the cartons but people tight on cash by packs a week.
