There has been a lot of confusion over a statement regarding Riot Shield’s being used as a perk in Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. In the Power Unlimited MW2 article the writer says that “Bowling let it slip, riot shields will be 100% a perk”.
Today we can report that Bowling has let it slip again, this time from the horse’s mouth, confirming for absolute sure that the riot shield will indeed be a perk in Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer.
In a knives-only CoD 4 community event the following questions were put to him.
“So how is this riot shield thing going to work in multiplayer?”
Bowling – “Oh, it will be a perk!”
“Won’t it be pretty over-powered?”
Bowling – “Not really, there weakness is a flash grenade, whenever they get flashed they lower the shield revealing a nice head-shot, What is really cool is having two people with riot shields crouching down while one person fires over the top of them, it is effective and it looks cool.”
We can also report that the riot shield will require both hands to hold, meaning that you won’t be able to fire a weapon whilst holding it (but you will be able to melee with it). In a post on forums.xbox.com Bowling had this to say
Bowling – “Riot shield guys are defenseless (except they can melee with it) because the riot shield requires both hands to hold, so you can’t shoot when you have it out. Best used in conjunction with another player. Even then, plenty of ways to counter someone with a shield.”
In an earlier post he described how the riot shield’s are best utilized.
Bowling – “It’s really good in objective gametypes. When one player needs to plant / defuse / defend the other players can protect him giving him some mobile cover while he works. It has it’s advantages in TDM as well, but objective gametypes is where i’ve really seen it shine.”

this is a useless perk…sum1 could just come from behind and shoot both idots
[Reply]
It won’t be useless because somebody could come behind you and shoot you even if you didn’t have a shield. Get in a party of 4 player over xbox live and you can talk your tactics and s**t. This will be awesome.

hey why are people getting mad about what comes out for the 360 over the ps3? this game has already lost my intrest and its not even out yet. the reason why is they are hyping it up way too much i feel like i know what the game is gonna be like and it aint out yet. i would much rather save the 80 dollars for the hardened edition and extra week and get Assassin’s Creed 2 it is not hyping itself up and it just looks better.
sorry for ranting just kinda pisses me off what infinityward is doing.

it’s stupid they are wrecking what makes the online game good this aspect is going to wreck the game play and make it unfair for other players

Tuts: Did you play the first Modern Warfare much? I guess I’m not sure why you begin to dislike a game simply because the game maker is making it sound good. And why would you pay $80.00? Isn’t the game $59.99 like all the others?
Tony: How will shields make it unfair? It adds another dimension of depth to the game and a complete new aspect of gameplay. This will allow teams to work together in a way that has never been done before in MW.

sounds like this is going to be good

this is a good idea, for progressing into a enemies half,
e.g in bog if there are many snipers – this can help your team for a spawn switch = confusion.
