Quadriplegic Modern Warfare 2 Gamer Needs Your Help
Quadriplegic MW2 Gamer Needs Your Help
Chuck Bittner contacted MW2Blog today in order to gain support for his cause to have custom button remapping included in all video games.
Chuck is a quadriplegic gamer (and comedian) who loves to play video games – especially shooters like Modern Warfare 2 – but because of his condition has to play games with his face, which he makes a very good job of. Now, to make his (and others with disabilities) gaming life easier he has started a petition for game developers to include custom button mapping in their video games, something that would allow anyone (including those with disabilities) to rearrange the button layout on the controller.
That’s where you come in. If you want to support Chuck in his cause head over to http://www.petitiononline.com/cu5t0m/petition.html and put your name down. It’ll only take seconds and will be helping a cause that we (and hopefully you) fully support. Check out Chuck ‘doin his thing’ in the video after the break…

As much as it would be nice to implement this into gaming, it would just open a ton of doors to hackers and anyone looking for a upperhand in gaming. I think it would be abused. Disabled gamers need to inquire with the company and get a special copy or something with documentation. Otherwise games like MW2 will go down the tube quickly.

@Impulse301, I disagree, frankly I fail to see how this could open the door for hackers. Every gamer should be able to customize the controls in any manner they want – especially the “cappers.” Good luck w/ the petition.

@Quikstrike, Try to use the “Tactical layout” It makes one of the buttons melee and it turns one of the joysticks into crouch & prone.

We have been able to remap our keyboard on PC for years I can’t see why they haven’t done it on the console as of yet. There are controller they could place in game to stop the abuse of the remapping.

This use to be very common on older game systems and for some reason it disappeared.

this is not a bad idea, theres no way to hack a game system by simply being able to customize a button layout you idiots. i dont see any PC’ers using “BUTTON LAYOUT HACKS” and they can customize their button layout. saying this is a bad idea is just selfish, try playing with your face, then say that, assholes.

Just came across this blog randomly while searching for Modern Warfare 2 stuff and couldn’t but distribute my 2 cents on this topic.
I looked around for a one handed controller one time because there was a time when I broke my arm and couldn’t use a hand to play the games that I loved. After hours of searching I found someone by the name of Ben Heckendorn who is a hardware modder, in the good sense of course. He came out with a single handed controller and tested it out to see if it held up to single and multiplayer gameplay in first person shooters.
I decided to do another search and found this:
http://www.xoxide.com/access-controller.html
It is a single handed controller slightly different from the one I saw but with 2 extra benefits. First off, instead of being confined to one system, it is able to be used on multiple platforms: PS2, PS3, Xbox360, and PC (I’m assuming it will also work on regular Xbox systems as well, but I’m not sure).
In any case, thought you’d might like to pass this on to your friend. Cheers!
