Strong Possibility Of More Than 2 MW2 Map Packs
Yesterday we wrote about Activision’s plans for Modern Warfare 2 DLC…
Activision – “We plan to launch two separate map packs for this title. Map packs help extend the shelf life of the franchise, as evidence by the strong catalog sales and premium pricing that we maintained a year and a half after launch.”
This led to some confusion that only two map packs would be released for the game. But now, Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling is clarifying that statement saying that while only two maps are planned, there is still a possibility for more.
Infinity Ward – “As far as DLC goes, we love it and plan to support ‘Modern Warfare 2′ heavily with post-launch support. We’ve confirmed we’ll be doing AT LEAST two map packs which were announced at E3 as a timed exclusive for Xbox 360. The fact that we confirmed at least two map packs doesn’t mean there won’t be more; honestly we plan on shaping our DLC based on community feedback from the full game, and first two DLC map packs. Therefore, the community will really determine what comes after that.”
Sounds like Modern Warfare 2 will be a more give-and-take experience with the fans, and that it’ll be up to them what sort of content should be included in future DLC. Quite a shift from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which had just the one map pack. The big question is, after Activision said at E3 that the first two map packs will be Xbox Timed Exclusive, will this apply to any further DLC?

First of all xbox has always been in the money, charging for internet for a gold membership which you get silver for free but cant play online games like COD with silver. So you need to spend the money. With the connection issues in game both 360 and ps3 have same issues except the ps3 is free. Why would I pay for issues like this. PS3 is the best system, cause if we send a ps3 in we get the same one back not a refurbished one. Playstation doesnt pay co. to have exclusive rights cause we dont have to.

2.)lack of there own ideas (the rumble pack were “out dated” from top sony people so they were not in the first controllers. then xbox still had it so sony fallowed.
xbox made a bigger hard drive then sony makes the same sized system.
3.)lack of exclusive title like halo series
4.) lacks early release dates from all major titles like MW2 MP1 which comes out on the 30th for us.(but that must be because the xbox sucks right thats why we get it first, or the fact that a lot more people play xbox live over psn )

1) You can upgrade the ps3 HDD any time to any size
2) Playing every 6 months for internet will eventually make the 360 more expensive as well as having to buy the thing that makes it wireless
3)Playstation has supported all the Metal Gear Solids, also Heavy Rain is an exclusive which i hear is also amazing
4) The reason they didnt include the rumble at first was because it was cheaper and that it didnt actually fit into the controllers, so they had to change it, not because they were following SH!TTY little xbox
5) They are not starting to make us play for online, where have you heard that, absolute bulls**t
6) What came first the playstation or the xbox, err i believe the playstation did (I’m talking about original playstation not PS3) so obviously Microsoft were copying Sony
7) Most of the controllers for the Xbox are wired, or wireless but you have to use batteries, which must get really f**king annoying when your controller runs outta charge and you have no batteries and in the middle of a game you have to go out and get some batteries, and the rechargable ones you can get are about as expensive as the PS3 ones
They have stopped making HD DVD’s so if you want to buy new DVD’s in high definition, you will have to get Blu-Ray

@I_BangBang_U, this is why i got rid of the 360s ,I have 3 kids and did have 6 xboxs,3 at mine and 3 at the mrs and all needed gold accounts..certain things are better on the 360 but i would rather the ps3 as it has bluetooth,can use any hd and browse the net.
The price of the ps3 is the put off but I learned it is actually cheaper then the 360 when you add up the live,bigger hd and what not.

seriously nothing is wrong with the Playstations servers, yeah you may run into some lagging but that is because 1. you don’t have good high speed internet, and 2. you PS3 isnt getting a good signal from your wireless router, this can be solved by a ethernet cable.

The reason the Xbox has timed exclusive is because Microsoft has paid for it, same as they paid for the GTA IV DLC, same as most DLC. Sony, who sell their consoles at a loss, don’t sell as many games and thus don’t have any spare money to invest in timed exclusivity deals.

@Tuts, depends on what platform you have it on. If youve got it on PC like me, then its a free update that would have been automatic. If youve got it on PS3, go to PSN and youll have to find and purchase the item called “COD 4 Map Pack”. Same with xbox360, however you need gamer points or something..while theres a cost attached to the xbox and ps3 dlc’s its still a great update which i recommend!

I am so impressed with this game, but it does have some problems, but I will not get into them. I will say that they should build some night time maps for the mutli-player part, make use of the night vision, and I didn’t come up with it but have a care package of a juggernaut suit, so you could be invincible for, I don’t know maybe a few seconds. I would also like to see the airport map to be expanded, both into the airport and out in the tarmac, maybe another plane to F around in.

Rob, why do you say using wi fi sucks, i use my wi fi for my ps3 and rarely lag in a game, which only occurs when it snows or there is a bad host, (snow cause its satellite) and for another thing xbox does not have all the good games, imo halo sucks, partly because of all the hacks you can do which i love to exploit because it pisses other people off, i loved metal gear solid 4 which is a great game and gow 3 will be epic, but on the main point it is lame that infinty ward favours one system over the other, it screws up the gaming community and ppl get pissed off. they should at least make a middle ground or something for dlc to make it fair, and y not combine the online play between xbox and ps3 on the multiplatform games. would make online play alot more fun

people talk about lag on the ps3 but honestly I seldom have lag except on the mw2 game, though I did lag a s**tload on the xbox live so to me the xbox has bigger issues
both games have their own titles which IMO they both have a good games and bad games and xbox gets kinda screwed having to pay for “live” but in return that get dlc first…so it’s all good…I’ll wait my extra few weeks and then buy the map pack

Hey, glad to hear it. If they’d have permitted dedi servers and mod tools on PC, there would be hack-free servers and dozens of custom user-created maps by now. But, we roll with what we got. Serious mapathy going on here, can’t wait for new maps!

I just trying to figure this out why do 360 fan boys think that the ps3 can’t get new hard drives I got a 500GB for 80 bills an we can use external harddrives since day one xbox is just getting this in april so ps3 is the cheapest a 60 GB from game stop 200 $ plus 500GB upgrade 80$ makes 280$ when its gonna cost more than that an arcade with a 250 gb its atleast 300$ for that. I’m not a fan boy just get ya facts straight cuz we can also get a 1TB hard drive or any laptop harddrive an you ain’t got mod nation racers either so bite it

I own both consoles I got my xbox when It was first released. I got my ps3 when metal gear came out. There arent many games that I care to play on my ps3. I prefer the online game play of the 360 because I dont get the lag that the ps3 has. The graphics of both systems are about the same. Its not really noticeable. I have rented the same game for both systems because a friend and I had been wondering which had better graphics. As much as you babies cry you should steer clear of both the xbox and the ps3 and do some nice bowling on the wii. Oh and yes I have a wii too.

Don’t worry everybody, Microsoft made a deal with Infinity Ward for a times release, and more then likely paid more money than Sony.
Therefore, it was released before Sony could even get their hands on it. They don’t favor a system over another, but simply want to sell their content to the highest bidder first to get some money. If they did like Microsoft better, than why is Call of Duty not an Xbox 360 only game? Sony won’t pass this up, believe me. I have heard from many reliable sources that it will be released for the PS3 in either late April, or mid June.
You all (Xbox 360 and PS3 fanboys alike) should truly consider stopping this console war. Agreed, Microsoft may want all the money, but it is a good thing that they want to get exclusive content out to their buyers as soon as possible, so that they can enjoy it immediately.
Unfortunately, Sony didn’t do that this time, and because it was a first-come-first-serve situation, resulted in the Xbox getting the map pack. Yet honestly, I can’t believe some of you think the PS3 won’t get the map packs at all. That wouldn’t make sense, now would it? Especially considering every other map pack released in the Call of Duty series has been released for both systems, so it will be the same this time.
So just stop your kiddy fighting and get over it. We are talking about map packs and you are arguing over Blu-Ray capabilities and laggy servers? Both consoles have their ups and downs, and it will remain that way. I own both consoles, and I appreciate each of them for what they offer, and I’ll leave it at that.
So in my opinion, I would just shut up, get over it, and go play the game. There truly is no point for some of you to stand around and argue here, when you could be out playing the game currently. This console war has gone on far enough, and I’m gonna stop it one way or another.

I just want to say both the PS3 and XboX 360 are good consoles.The difference is the 360 has to pay for online gaming and they bribe company’s to make games come out for them first. That’s why the 360 got the mw2 map packs first. When they get stuff first they get more lag. When the map packs for PS3 and all the other systems almost all the problems will be fixed. In my opinion PS3 is better and is more original than the xbox. Just because we own a PS3 does not make us cheap it makes us unique unlike all the XboX owners who want to pay for online because they believe they get 90% better connection. Truth is there ain’t much difference in the connection.

Ok, if you wanna have your little PS3 vs 360 fight do it somewhere else, The only reason 360 got the Map pack first is because there is a bigger market for it there. Not because it’s better, not because it’s worse. 360′s are cheaper, so with the release they were hoping that more people would buy a 360 to get the DLC. They just wanted to make more money, which is pretty much the whole point of DLC, to milk the game of everything it’s got. If ps3 had a larger MW2 fan base then it would’ve been the other way around.

Listen Guys,, I’ve just been reading the first page and a half of all your b***hing.
Yes XBOX does ovr-heat and you have to pay for online capabilities
And Yes PS3 is more expensive and scratches easier
But all in all they’re both the same –
Both have HD
Both have format exclusive games
The XBOX has a very wide marketplace with faster DLC
And the PS3 has free online and wireless access
But they also both have their flaws:
XBOX – Three red lights and online charging (but it’s worth it)
PS3 – The blu-ray light can break and unnecessary extra charges (such as a headset)
The XBOX is a good console if you like hardcore gaming and chatting to your mates whereas the PS3 is a good console if you’re a family and like to take it easy.
But all-in-all they’re both as good as eachother. I’ve had them both (still got the XBOX) and I think they’re both great. I’ve simply chosen the XBOX as I like it for the exclusive content and chatting to my mates. I liked the PS3 for Heavy Rain, which I though was great, but it was simply too much money – the console, the headset and the extra money for the games.
Now that I have told you all this, you can make your mind up for yourself and please keep it to yourself.
