If you’re in the UK and was thinking of buying Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 then you’re in for a bit of a shock. Because of “the weak Pound and increased development costs”, Activision have decided to set the following RRP for the upcoming title.
- Standard Edition £54.99
- Hardened Edition £69.99
- Prestige Edition £119.99
If you’re in the market for the Prestige Edition, you have to shop at HMV, who have secured the exclusive rights to sell the Night Vision Special Edition.

Works out you save about 12GBP for Prestige Ed. Dont forget VAT though, and the time you’ll have to wait.

Y’know, seeing as they did form most of the western world, and if you decide to play this game on a nice LCD tv, then the thanks go to the British Army, who were the ones who invented the LCD technology.

Haha… Maybe the price hike will make less brits buy the game! It gets sicking when there is 5 Brits on your team in multilayer anyway! Does the U.S. have the standard, hardened, and prestige version, or is this just for the UK.

Even the normal edition of Modern Warfare 2 seems to be more expensive (+10%) in Switzerland. You British aren’t the only ones that will have to pay more than usual.
I totally want to get the UK version because MW: 2 is probably not multilingual. I hope that they don’t advance the price again… it’s already more than enough.

Preorder it from Play.com for £44.99 and free delivery! And who gives a crap about the (probably rubbish) NVGs anyway? You’ll be bored of them in about 2 minutes.

on hmv, if you pre-order the normal version you get the usual discount of 44.99 but on the hardened and prestige edition is still full price
luckily, i’m going for the pc version for £30 pre-order (considering there aren’t any special editions for it yet)

I actually like playing cod with the Europeans, like the Brits. Just because you get owned by them doesn’t mean you should hate them. Who care that they don’t speak like you, you don’t speak like them. Remember that in a “war-like-crisis” NORTH AMERICA will need to call upon England for support cause we can’t do it our selves.

it’s well worth £55 people are still playing modern warfare after 2 years or so and if this is as good then they’ll proberly be playing this for the next few years ..so £55 for about 2 years or so play is brilliant if you think about it..and as for you yanks not liking playing online againts us brits some of you are soft if your getting beat at a game you quit before it finishes sore losers ..i’ve never had a brit quit in the middle of play so what does that tell you ?
