Modern Warfare 2 Special Ops Mode 2 Player Only
No Campaign Co-op, No 4 Player Survival Mode
After the success of Call of Duty: World at War’s zombie mode and 4 player campaign co-op it comes as a surprise to hear that Infinity Ward’s hotly anticipated game, Modern Warfare 2, will include no co-op campaign, no 4 player survival type side game and no zombies.
It seems Infinity Ward have gone their own way with the Special Ops mode that they have included in the game…. it will support only 2 players!
Speaking to VideoGamer.com, Robert Bowling explained the decision, saying IW didn’t want to “ruin the story by cramming co-op into it”. He went on to say …
“We don’t do co-op in our story because we’re crafting a very specific experience and we don’t want to ruin that by cramming co-op into it. We take the moments that work really well with co-op, we bring them out and we put them in Special Ops.”
“Story’s all about pacing,” he added. “Sometimes moments get toned down because they don’t fit with the pacing of the experience you’re trying to deliver. There (in Special Ops) it’s all about fun. It’s about playing over and over again, getting a better time – you’ll have a time at the end of it – it’s about challenging a friend going in on co-op and trying to beat it on veteran.”
When asked why Special Ops was limited to two players, not four, Bowling replied:
“Two player seemed to be the magic number for co-op. That’s when it stayed really fun and intense without becoming a clusterf**k of things. We just found that two-players was the most fun.”
A lot of people were hoping for a zombie mode in Modern Warfare 2. I personally would have liked a survival / horde mode (without zombies in it), hopefully people will enjoy the Special Ops mode in Modern Warfare 2 as much as they do the zombie mode in Call of Duty: World at War.

It should be good either way, and I prefer story over the co-op. No co-op in the story is the reason we have a MULTIPLAYER game mode. Still you did lose some fans with that decision. Though the Horde thing is Treyarch’s thing. No toe stepping!

BEAT STREET… I can’t believe they are not going to put Co-op story mode in the game. I can understand if they themselves do not like to play that but most of the gaming community enjoys playing Co-op with their boys. Def didn’t see this coming.

No survival mode? Hopefully they’re thinking about it for DLC or something, i know lots of people that bought the game and or the map packs just for the zombie modes, i couldn’t imagine the space and time saved would be worth the money lost, but then again with figures that high you wouldn’t notice even if you cared.

COD:MW2 REQUEST…
As a person who owned almost all the call of duty’s, I don’t think that them taking this option out was a good one. They have to understand that a lot of times online, people don’t play right or they cheat, etc. I wont doubt their own spin, but it would be nice to include a goofy kind of side quest.
Another thing I wanted to mention is the killcam. That should definitely be removed because it cause you to constantly move and the fact that it gives away your position is just illogical. Why would that be a good idea? Please work on at least this and I’ll be happy.

wow this man is a genius treyarch wanted them to ruin their game experience by adding a special type of 4 co-op mode but guess what it wont happen man infinity wards knows what they are doing now wonder why they became so succesful. Reason y i think is becuz they don’t want people to stop playing the exiting multiplayer we always play on COD4 , becuz thats wat modern warfare is all about {PRESTIGE).

@Ramirez, well cod4 prestiging was useless just makde you lose your hard work. treyarch add the extra custom classes and outsold IW. and mw2 prestiging was useless cause if you got to tenth like me you get called a hacker when you spend all that time to get there legitly. mw2 was just full of mods and multiplayer ruined. i do however think the graphics and suspense in campaign was great

I’m glad that campaign isn’t co-op, it would ruin the game. It’s a good thing that IW is smart enough to have co-op but have it in an appropriate mode, where it won’t disturb the storyline in anyway possible. Kudos To IW

4 players is co-op Sniper(me),Rifleman,Demo,and Support.. two players is Gay Ho and Mo… its just split screen but two t.v’s.. like come on u honestly think one other player helping you is fun?? look at mostly every army game or moive.. Not army of two… and see how many dudes with guns are running around.. hate the thought of it.. but still getting the game… and WAT No Zombie mode… they are slowly fadeing already..

it seems to me tht many ppl want some kind of nazi zombies in mw2. i agree tht this is a very fun mini game, but it would ruin the game. think about it, its “modern warfare” the point of the game is to feel the experience as a typical military soldier. this game is suppose to be a way for players to test their military skills with other people. so in my opinion if u want to play nazi zombies stick to world at war because it doesnt suit Modern Warfare.

my name ^ is the name for my PSN account. quote “hopefully people will enjoy the Special Ops mode in Modern Warfare 2 as much as they do the zombie mode in Call of Duty: World at War.” No sir we are not enjoying it much as the zombie mode in Call of Duty: World at War. Everyone loves to shoot zombies mainly because they don’t shoot back and only think about eating you alive. Nazi zombies in Call of Duty: World at War was probably the most brilliant idea for the Call of Duty franchise. Without it the game doesn’t seem anymore interesting as another Multi-player FPS game. Infinity Ward let down A LOT of Call of duty fans. It just isn’t the same Call of Duty without zombie mode.

Also, Dual weapons sweeeeeeeet another good idea, but i haven’t unlocked it in multiplayer yet. Throwing knives are very short distanced but fun to use. I was also thinking about melee weapons(that you can actually hold) . It would’ve make the game more challenging. the 1911.45 my most Favorite #1 GUN out of all weapons was M.I.A. That makes me very disappointed. Also the Plot of the game was more twisted than a homosexual.I like it.
