Modern Warfare 2 Resurgence Map Pack Names and Pictures
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Resurgence Pack details are in and we’re guessing Infinity Ward are big fans of recycling. Along with 3 new, there will be two more old CoD4 maps coming to Modern Warfare 2 on June 3rd.
The Resurgence Pack features 5 maps and unsurprisingly will stick with the 15$ price point. The old maps which make a return from Call of Duty 4 are Vacant and Strike, while the new maps are called Trailer Park (a tight, constrained map), Carnival (a big fairground) and Fuel (a sniper’s paradise).
The Resurgence pack launches June 3 for Xbox 360, while PC and PS3 owners will have to sit tight for further details on their respective launches, but you can expect them to arrive 30 days after they hit the Xbox, minimum.
Strike
Strike is a city block set in the Middle East, with a large courtyard, a street in the center, several open buildings and a pathway to flank opponents.
Vacant
Vacant is a map with an outside that features several metal containers, while the inside is a warehouse with two large rooms and a small courtyard in the center.
Trailer Park
This map is based on the Boneyard level from the campaign. The area will be condensed, with corridors that become a maze, and sections that can easily become ambush points. The level is designed for close to mid range combat, as well as ambushes and traps.
Fuel
Based on the oil refinery level form the campaign, this map will have two distinct areas. One will be more of an open area for ranged battles, and the other a side is a warehouse with corridors for close combat.
Carnival
A huge map set in an amusement park featuring all new art work and level design. The daytime map will feature wide open areas and several highpoints that will make it ideal for snipers and long range battles. The area will include a roller coaster, a fun house, and bumper cars.

I also am getting annoyed with the 30 day min wait time for PS3/PC.
I, for one, will not be playing this game anymore after this map-pack.

Because when you purchased CoD4, they weren’t made for MW2. As stated all over the webz, these are DLC. You do not have to purchase them. They are completely optional.
Not purchasing them won’t cause you to be “kicked out of the game”. IW’s matchmaking works so that players aren’t split up if they don’t buy the maps. Easily enough, the maps just don’t load for the other 11 players. You personally wouldn’t notice a single difference if you didn’t buy the maps.
If you don’t like that Microsoft forks over money for their customers and gets exclusive rights, you may want to think about purchasing an Xbox. Clearly Sony either didn’t want to spend the money or just didn’t care at all. As a gamer, I like to support a company that looks out for the gamers. If MS wants to blow 50 million on GTA IV episodes or MW2 maps so we get them early, I’m totally cool with it.
The only thing I don’t like is when DLC is exclusive to a single console. I don’t feel that’s right at all. If anyone buys a game, PS3 or Xbox, they should be able to enjoy all of the DLC that the other console owner can.

Also, the difference I would notice from not purchasing the DLC is that it would be MUCH harder to find games in the first place due to the already horrible matchmaking system.
Thirdly, I have an XBOX360 alongside my PS3 and PC, but I am just speaking in general when I say that it is BS to make some people wait.
An example of that would be the way some people magically knew every inch of the new maps on the first day it came out for PS3/PC. It takes away from the whole “new experience.”

o_O IW got the idea from the “us” that “we” wanted maps from CoD4. IW asked the community what they wanted and now IW is delivering. We should be thankful they are listening.

Horrible matchmaking system? I don’t have a single issue with it, so I can’t argue that. I do know from CoD4 that finding a match without purchasing the maps didn’t take any longer. I’d assume the same is for MW2.

It’s called marketing. These companies are trying to make money. As gamers, we hope that MS or Sony doesn’t have exclusive right to the DLC. Luckily here, all other platforms will still get it. Timed exclusivity is nothing when compared to console exclusivity.

It kind of sort of takes a crap load of work and it’s not easy. You’re complaining about how they put in 2 old CoD 4 maps, so if they just took those out would you be happy? They’re throwing those in because some people like the old maps more than MW2 maps but like MW2 more than CoD 4. Obviously, the real structure of the map pack is those 3 new maps which just so happen to be kick a*s. Would you ever be able to make three maps as good as those? 1. Don’t buy the map pack. There are plenty of people who don’t have it and there are plenty of rooms available for people who don’t buy it.
2. You don’t get kicked out of lobbies if you don’t have the map pack. There isn’t anything wrong with the matchmaking as a whole. Check your internet. Maybe you’ve got a s**tty connection.
3. Why does it matter if you’ve played the maps before? MW2 is not MW1. Personally, I’m very happy they imported Overgrown and especially Crash b/c Crash is beast in MW2. Not to mention knowing the maps before everyone else gets them is a tactical advantage for you.
4. Xbox paid for the exclusive rights to get DLC first. Where do you think XBox got the money? Oh, the 2.5 million people who Microsoft 70$ a year to play online xbox. That’s who. I can go either way with it, personally. Sure I wish I could get them on ps3 early too but then I think about the subscription for PSN that I don’t have to pay for.

Oh f*** this, first they release the faiure called the Stimulus Pack which they expected me to to pay $15 for 3 maps which I could have design in less than a week? I was hoping they’d make the next map pack for $10 but nooo, so many head-less chickens went and bought it, so now $15 had become the norm. I guess I’m going to have to give this map pack a miss too.
Seriously though, so many other games give the community things like free maps and you’d think the biggest FPS would atleast have the decency to not try and milk every penny out of a gamer’s pocket. And then there’s this bulls**t about 30 days exclusivity, I could guarantee if this was a developer like Valve then this would never have happened.
I wouldn’t even be complaining if it wasn’t for IW’s lack of community support, I don’t get how hard it it could be to stop OMA or Cammnado, or even make a Bar Bones playlist. Atleast Halo has their MLG playlists…
Oh well, it’s up to Treyarch to trying and recontrust this failing mass. I’m sure they’ll be able to create a decent game, atleast Treyarch actually listen to the community and adapt to what they hear, unlike Iw who hear the complaints but deicide to plug their ears with millions of dollars. I guess until Black Ops I’m done with CoD.

@Um, dude wtf are you talkin about! less than a week to design 3 maps? i dont think so, im actually doin a course on computer games development and as part of tht i had to create a level for an assessment, guess how long it took me… about 2 weeks. well tht was actually designing and making the level but wat made it worse is the fact it was insanly simple compared to some of my college mates levels. by no means could you start to understand how long 1 little aspect of game content takes to make.

the stimulus map packs are good,i enjoy them from day one.It’s worth it to me,considering my friends dont play mw1 anymore.So having previous maps on a new game is good.Especially ones i enjoy.I’ll gladly purchase these too on day one.
as for the ps3,well the game really isn’t the same on ps3.It feels akward,the controls are different the “feel” of them is weird to me.the king of FPS’s of most def xbox,the trigger feels kinda like a trigger.Also the competition is way better on 360,i was playing it on ps3 5 minutes ago and man it seems that people on there have less skill. i got up to 40 kills using only a harrier strike. i could never do that with the hardcore players on 360. just the truth.

I dont know why everyone is complaining about a $15 price tag. Lets break this up –
3 new maps for $10 = $3.33 / map
2 old maps for $5 = $2.50 / map
5 maps for $15 = $3 / map
Stop saying its 3 maps for $15, its not. And your actually getting a better deal, saving $0.33 per map. I dont give a s**t if their old maps, there’s a reason their returning; their fun to play.

=>2.50 per new map
Now we pay $3 per map, and two of those aren’t even new.

I would be cool with the old maps IF they would change them up a little. If I’m not mistaken (and I might be), MW2 is supposed to take place 2 years after MW1…surely in that time frame, somebody would have perhaps unlocked a door and locked another 1…All these maps have buildings that weren’t accessible in MW1, that they could open up and perhaps close off other areas that were open before…could change the whole dynamic.
For instance, on Crash…what if the 2 buildings near the plane were open, but the downstairs of the the tall building was completely locked and the only way in was the outer steps or ladder to roof.
Stuff like that would make these old seem fresh

I dont understand all of the complaining. The year is 2010. Quality comes at a price. If you want a game with DLC’s that aren’t crappy then, yes, take MW2 out of your disc drive. A DLC with good maps is going to cost money. Nothing good comes free anymore. Maps keep the game fresh, keep pumping these out IW, these look sick and thank god i bought a 360

in my opinion I.W. ward is gay for the simple reason that they are solely owned by activision now ,with the firing of president Jason West and ceo Vince Zampella of infinity ward on march 1st of 2010. West and Zampella paired up in 2002(along with 22 other developers) to form infinity ward(May 2010 issue of Game Informer…page 18 incase any of u want to read about it ) . Dont get me wrong i love MW1,cod 5, and MW2,and i have no problems with the price of the maps…but how are u gonna fire the 2 main people responsable for creating infinity ward .Thats just wrong …treyarch might need to watch there backs.Speaking of treyarch …infifnty ward might want to take some notes and listen to the community ,for example…..spawn tubing in search and destroy….what did treyarch do ???…they put a 15 second delay on shooting grenade launchers when u spawn …infinty ward might want to give that a try …I love search and destroy ……when i can make it out my own spawn (meaning being able to take more than 3 steps and not get toobed).One map that comes to mind is bailout…u spawn right across from each other with no buildings in between….1 tube ,from one person can easily get 3 people (imagine the whole team toobing).other than that i love the game ….Btw to the person who said bring bog back ..i doubt seriously they would (no night vision in MW2),but hey you never know….they night time maps in cod 5 and no night vision..so it is possable.

Then people will complain about how much the map packs will cost and some would say “if I wanted to play COD 4 maps I would just play COD 4” there is 16 maps if you did not pay the map pack for it. They should just make the maps free after a month or two after the map packs came out, or it should go back down to 800 ms points COD 4 had 4 maps. Why should people have to pay an extra 400ms for one more map? Why not just do what halo 2 had a disc that was 9 maps on it for $20, I download it to my Xbox and 8 other people. Now only the first Xbox 360 and the Xbox live account downloaded will have the maps pack or download. You should ban from buying the map packs until they low the price to 800 ms. Yeah it 1200ms ($15) but when you have to pay for a house or rent, a car, insurances, schooling, food, if you have kids, and then to having to pay $20 to get 1600ms. It is not worth the price to pay. If a game cost about $60 when it first comes out, then $10-$15 dollars for a map pack, Xbox live $50 for 12 month, well just there it is over $100 now and when the Government was giving bailouts to the big name Companies, I did not get nothing from them. Yes, it is better to have the map pack at 800 ms points so I do not have to spend $20 every time a new map pack comes out.

@Saggy, i was speaking for two of my friends that play video game they 35 and 55. and i don’t kids yet. and so what if i still play COD. i play about 3-4hrs every few day,but play during the night.i also have a girlfriend. not when there is light outside to do something out in the yard.Shaggy two question for you, how long do you play each day? 8hr, 10hr, 4hr. second do you have a girlfriend? and your tell me i have no life. at least i don’t have to have my parents buy me Call of Duty. i am about to be 20.

The three new maps look good, but I don’t know if I will be getting this. Crash and Overgrown were awesome on CoD4. On MW2 they suck. Weapons and killstreaks are too overpowered for their layout. Like a few people have mentioned, they could have edited the old maps. From what I remember, the buildings in vacant do not have roofs, or atleast a good percentage doesn’t. IW better have used their brains and covered the inside from killstreaks. Vacant was an awesome shotgun and smg map on CoD4.

i seriously thought they would come back with a gun pack as well. the ak74-u was the greatest gun in cod4 that isnt on the game in mw2. plus if they brought back the G36C or M40A3 Sniper that everyone used i think it would be a huge hit (remind me of any guns i may have 4gotten)

And I think the pack is a bit overpriced for what you get, but 15 isn’t that much and I’m just enough of a consumer w***e to not care =P. Honestly though it would be nice to get some new spec ops…

1. I am married and have 3 kids, 1 month old, 2 year, and 3 year old. They are plenty of work, along with my FULL time job that racks up 50 hours some weeks. I have a large yard and house that requires upkeep. AND there is still plenty of time to spend with my wife AND to play video games. I love mw2 so it’s the only game i play. I usually get an hour in each night after the kids are in bed, my favorite way to relax.
2. Since i have a full time job, even after paying taxes, bills, insurance, mortgage, 2 vehicles and everything else, I have little right to complain about spending $15 bucks on something i enjoy. It’s $15 bucks….seriously not a lot of coin. And if you can’t muster up enough money for it, or just don’t think it’s worth it, then just DON”T BUY IT. Stop blaming infinity ward, instead thank them because they created a game that you’ve obviously enjoyed if you’ve bothered to read and write about it.
3. I do like the idea of opening up old locked doors from cod4 maps, closing up others or adding ladders to get on buildings that you couldn’t before. Or make it like battlefield where you can actually open doors or bust through them, or nube tube a whole in the wall to get through.

I Think This the last modern warfare series considering 38 Infinity Ward employees is suing for unpaid royalties. I Think map pack are there so they can milk more money from us knowing the next installment will not be good since all the orginal developer are gone too, Asuming there is another installment.

Yer. I think they get it on the release date then put it on the server ready for the next day, because that happened with the last DLC pack as well. (For PS3, Australia)
