@Shurshooter, the problem is if you play this game 24/7 it doesnt take much to be a lvl 70 10th hinestly whats it prove nothing at all i mean io stoped at lvl 70 1st why do i need to show ppl im good with an icon when i can simply laugh at ppl that say oh your a lvl 70 1st then kick there ass i mean id rather finish every challenge there is rather then reach lvl 70 10th prestige by not even having to be good at the game….

@aubrey, idk about y’all but as soon as I got to lvl 70 I stopped playing…it just felt like there was no point. Ohh, I killed you with my AK and got 100 exp! For me, the game is only fun if you’re playing to get somewhere. I prestiged today because I had nothing else to do and if you’re worried about losing guns you’re stupid. Tons of guys who are lvl 60 and are actually good still use the FAMAS, the UMP45 or the Intervention. If you stay at lvl 70 because you think all the weapons will make you better then you suck at this game. So prestiging is good, just to have a fresh start. The first time around I used the M4A1 and sucked. Now I use the FAMAS and I’m like 45-20 every game. So…yeah.

@TheTempest36, Prestige icons don’t prove who is good and who is a n00b anymore. Anyone can prestige without being any good. That’s what the titles and emblems were made for. People who get the really difficult titles can prove they’re better than someone who played forever and prestiged.

@fack, if you have 2 guys start at the same time and play for the same amount of time but one prestiges…then they are still playing the same amount of time, its just one starts over again and again. The reason why i dont really care to prestige is cuz i would like to keep the Fall camo that i DID NOT BOOST FOR to show people im good. so there is more than one way to show you are good

Most people who do the first actually need the perks, killstreaks, and weapons. Most people who do the second are more interested in showing off. As for me, when I get to 70, I’m going to stay there for a while to try out everything, and once I’ve done that, then prestige.

@Don’t care either way!, i prestiged 3 days ago and i’m back to level 46. came across a prestige 10 level 70 and tooled him pretty good. and i’m not that great. just more proof that prestige doesn’t really mean anything. just as i beat people who are several times prestiged, i get the occasional beat down from a zero prestige. one thing that is obvious is that it gets you more acquainted with the weapons/equipment/perks. as far as skill level goes i haven’t seen any advantages. i’m going to get to 70 again and just as before i will play it until i’m tired of it. this time around i want to complete all AK47 challenges.

you’re so wrong it’s not even funny. prestige is there for several reasons. One, so you won’t get bored with the game after you hit 70. Once you’ve reached maximum level, for those players who like to feel like they are working toward something higher.. there is nothing. So they incorporated prestige. Another reason is for more custom character class slots.. which is actually very useful. And the final reason is for titles and emblems. Prestige doesn’t prove in any way that you are good. That’s what stats and leaderboards are for. The easiest way to find out if someone is a talented player. Is check their accuracy and kill/death on the leaderboard.

Prestige. well just like it has been said before, its personal. everybody has a different perspective about it. i personaly would go up to lvl 10. why? i look at how my brother plays, he is stil new at it, he gets his ass wipped good and solid. the more you play, the better you get, know where to look, know where to go. know everything about the game. for me, well i want to do everything that there is about the game. i want 100% game completion. yea sure my multiplayer is 100% but im not lvl 10 yet. im just changing over to lvl 1 now. its there to keep us busy. you dont have to do it. you can just sit at rank 70 lvl 1 no problem, or you can actualy go to lvl 10. just play the game like you want to play it. not how other people wants you to play it. enjoy the game, why els did you go and buy?

I Prestige to make me a better player. I’m currently on my second prestige. By “better player”, I mean that when I give up my weapons, it forces me to become that much more raw of a player. I didn’t have the ACOG or the thermal that I used to depend on so much. Now, I just aim down the iron sights because I’d rather use my weapon attachments for other things (like extended mags now that I can stay alive a lot longer!). The further I progress through the game, the more “primitive” my weaponry has become. It’s not a super customized weaponed like it used to be. When I first started playing, it took me FOREVER to get to my first Prestige, but getting to my second Prestige was a breeze and this time around it’s going even faster. I used to be 0.50 k/d ratio when I first started playing the game, but I have brought it up to 1.35 ratio and I have to say it’s because losing dependency on a bunch of weapon attachments and perks and stuff made me a better player.

I agree with both sides of it. I like to prestige because its fun to start all over with the weapons, and it gives me more to do than just pure killing. But I don’t really think it makes you a better player. I remember the old cod I would be more nervous seeing a lvl 70 1st prestige in a game than a say 55 7th or 8th prestige. Why? Most likely they’ve been at that lvl forever and are really good at the weapons they use… but whatever its a game.

Prestige mode is only there for the developers to get you to keep playing the game in online mode, and by removing all your weapons and perks forces you to start all over again and spend many more hours playing for reward systems. Very clever I think considering the only benefits are icons and more challenges etc… i will probably do it when I get there, just for the banter…im at Lvl38 — bit of time to go though lool

@Flambs, I totally agree. Prestige is just a way to keep the multiplayer “alive” for many months or even years. Also, when more players are online they will stay informed about new stuff like mappacks for example. I know it’s actually stupid to do everything all over again just for new challenges and the icon, though I enter prestige everytime I get to lvl 70 xD. And no I’m not playing 24/7. I’m just bored and I have a lot more fun by doing it all over again

ok i think prestiging is really up to the person. It definitely makes one a better player. By going back to the raw classes you really have to worry about 1 on 1 firefights. to be honest ill go to ten and remake a name and then stop at the first one probably. this is because after getting so high my kil death ratio will be just sick. thats why i do it just to get good for my final name. right now its like a 1.4 if i follow how i did at the previous too when i change names itll be about 2.5-3 the extra classes help a ton if u are a good player at all u should look at kill cam and change your classes based on what they are using. but i do not think anyone is wrong

For the same reason as Dudez, i prestiged for the extra custom class slot. just means i have my usual 5 slots then one for special occassions (e.g. diff game type)
It was fun going thru the ranks again but once is enough. Losing all those crazy fluke kills and headshots is just not worth it (2 headshots with one bullet…stupidly hard to get)

@nerman, well first u stay at 70, 55, 65, whatever, y do u play the game… sure the AK-47 is good, hence y IW put it at 70… but just to get there and spend the rest of your time in this game at that lvl is just stupid, sure nothing wrong with stayin there for a few days or so to use the AK but prestige is there for a reason… it may say your good, may not, that depends on u, personally extra classes are awesome, able to set up diff. combos with one weapon… and it does and i mean it does make u a better player… my K/D was 1.68 b4 i prestiged its been above 2 ever since and i 8th rank 68… and for the fluke kill challenges… they just happen by playing… more or less when u dont try for them… i got the 2+ headshot with 1 bullet at least 20 times, each with different weapons… so anyone new or old to the cod franchise prestiging… definitely worth it… besides look at WaW they gave u an achievement for reaching ten… just prestige everyone and feel like u accomplished something

I was not sure I would ‘Prestige’, but as soon as I reached level 70 + 1, I pushed the button. I thought the weapons made a big difference and found myself kicking butt as a Prestige 1, lvl 1 with a stock Famas. Like others here, I am trying different weapon combos this time around and having fun. I also liked the additional weapon class you get when you Prestige. Stuck a thumper and primary with grenade launcher in there just to tick off noob tube haters! HA! Still hate the tact-knife-commando knifers. Use striker to wreck their games!

I like prestiging, I just prestiged (I”m level 23 first prestige), and I like being forced to use different weapons. When I started playing, I used the ump45, now im sniping with the barrett. You fall into ruts with which weapons you use, and its fun to be forced to try out new stuff.

Look I was just like all of you saying that prestige is lame and for people that have no lives and the list goes on and on… But, once I hit level 70 and played a few rounds, it was cool having the AK47 and all but the XP I was earning wasn’t going towards anything and I felt like I hit the end of the game. Honestly I have never unlocked the fall camo on any gun yet but who cares! I will eventually and to show off camos u need people to watch killcams. And if u think they are watching them to see camos then your way off, it’s to see where they just got poned from. So prestige for me is good because I want to feel that after every round I’m progressing forward. I got six days in and am prestige 1 level 70… Yeah u lose all your guns/perks but it’s something to look forward to unlocking. There’s a new app I just got on my iPhone for MW2 that’s great! It has all gun/perk and every other challenges with a checklist so I know what I have done. And when u prestige u keep all titles and emblems so with this new app I’m stoked. Going in prestige mode has no bearing on whether your good or not. It only proves that you can sit in front of your ps3/360 for days ad just kill people. The way to determine if you are good or not is to look at your kill/death ratio. If its higher that 1.00, then youre better than the average player. If its lower, then u suck. Everyone who calls people a pussy for not prestiging is only trying to cover up the fact that their kill/death is below 1.00. My kill death is 2.14 and I guarantee i could destroy any of you queers who have prestiged eight times. One of my friends is fourth prestige and his kill/death is .82… HE IS AWFUL. But when I say hes bad he says that I have better guns than him… THe point of prestigin is not to prove that you are good, because you can tell whos good and whos not by looking at leaderboards and KILL/DEATH RATIO.

Prestige 10 or any other level doesn’t mean sh*t, sure there are some that are good and leveled up fast. And then there are those that just leveled up by spending days and weeks in front of the console. And if you play it right you can hit 70 in 2 or 3 days. There are tons of accomplishments that give a ton of XP. That doesn’t mean your good either, it just shows you have half a brain and that you are smart enough to use this to your advantage when climbing up the ladder.
For me, I could care less what I use, sure I have my favorite weapons but I try to use everything to make leveling up faster.
Oh and @ curt, your a f*cking tool, you come here bashing gamers but what does that say about your life that you spend time trolling forums and flaming people. After getting hurt in Iraq and having to get out of the Army I have went back to college. So between going to class and spending time with my family I play online mainly with guys I was stationed with. Does that mean I have no life? No it just means that I choose to power up the PS3 to take a break from the everyday BS in life.

I think that alot people worry way to much about this. A video game is something that people created to help kill some time. For everyone who is a “gamer” is just someone who isnt creative enough to get their ass out of the chair,couch and find something more productive to do. You guys have to kidding me. Why argue over a game when it won’t change your opinion at all? I think if you play call of duty enough to get to 5th prestige or greater, then you should STOP PLAYING and get some fresh air. I am only level 53 and haven’t prestiged and I don’t play too much. Get a girlfriend.

You know, it is nice that they give you a reason to keep going, but it’s the usual effortless reason. Making you relevel is just sad.
Besides, I’ve seen the same stupid arguments. You are less skilled if you don’t Prestige because you want to keep your stuff? WTF? I’ve changed guns like 20 times and I haven’t even hit 70. I’ve tested nearly all of the AR available to me, and most are at least up to everything unlocked but the Extended Mags and camos. I’ve swapped out everything to keep some interest, because playing a match with the same stuff over and over is boring. Besides THAT, my K/D is STILL over 1.0. It’s NEVER gone below. I might get obliterated in one match, but the one before or the one after I just bring The End to everyone.
The only thing I have a problem with, aside from some of the cheap methods people use a LOT, is that seemingly, either I lag or someone else is, because I’ve emptied half a mag into someone, SIGHTED, and yet I still die. And YET, the AR I’m using supposedly kills in 2-4 shots, yet here I am flatlining my ammo supply on one person.
Either way, it’s MY game, I’ll play it MY way, and e-penises can go suck themselves. Whether I prestige or not won’t matter, because at level 70 my KD will STILL be over 1.0, I’ll have what I want available and I’ll do everything I want.

Well personally. I agree that being a lvl 70 at 10th prestige doesnt require very much skill. But to me, I think they play majority of their time. . I often play it from when I get home 3 pm to when my feet get sore from standing 7 pm. Then I hit the sack. I’ve had the game ever since it came out and I’m only 3rd prestige. And. To not brag.. But I get 30-2 no matter what gun I use, really. All I’m saying is, prestiging is my way of doing things. Once I get to 10th prestige I’m going to complete every challenge for every gun, perk, killstreaks, the whole lot! Why? Because its more fun. The challenges actually challenge me sometimes. Peace!

like i read here before there is ppl at 70 who just play to show skill. I dont need some Prestige to show that i can play. i rather just ownd with regular wepns and do some random achivments. Try have fun instead of just owning with every weapns toppd.

But u also get another custom class every time u prestige, so a 10th prestige has like, what is it, like 15 custom classes or something? I prestiged also so that i could just start over with weapons that i didn’t do the 1st time around and then get mastery at them and then do all the prestige challenges.

WOW!!! We’re really swingin’ Big Penis’s around this Blog!!! I’m a lvl 10 prestige….I’m a level 5 prestige.Yadda, Yadda! you can take the prestige and shove it up your ass! I’ve seen level 6 prestige’s talk so much garb. Then when it comes down to picking up their sticks and taking a run. They choke! You can be a Lvl 10 and still get steam rolled and if you do, then guess what….you’re just not that good now are you!

Guys, not sure what the big deal is. Prestige or don’t. Who gives a hoot. I did it twice b/c I like the challenge of starting over and trying new games. Unlike most of you on this thread, i could give a rat’s arse if I get 40 kills or 10 a game. I have a good time with it, regardless. If you’re one of these blowhards that justifies your social existence by your CODMW2 prestige or ability, may I suggest a new approach…and a girlfriend.
I’m at 13 on the 2nd prestige…average ability but having fun. isn’t that what it’s all about.

The reason why people prestige is because having everything in 0 prestige 70 gets boring and you want to do things over again, to me I mess up on certain weps and i can’t choose which is better to use and i get frustrated so i start over and when i start over it’s like earning new skills i feel good and play better each prestige I go.

I don’t get it??? if someone can actually keep interest to prestige 10 times, then they are either unemployed or they are in kindergarten and have no life… and they might be clinically r****ded, especially if they played the last 2 call of duties. the games are the same. why would anyone prestige? prove that your better? to who? who cares? and with the experience system it doesn’t prove skill at all!! u die 3 times in a row and get a kill, you get extra experience points?? you get nuked by the other team… you get experience points?? does this at all make sense? no… anyone who thinks they are good because they play call of duty are r****ded… the whole game is a flaw. the best thing about games like counterstrike is anyone could pick up a controller and be on a level playing field as anyone else. call of duty games are just whoever plays the most will be the best and have the best guns… when i stopped playing i was a level 40 something, and throughout all my level 10s and 20s and 30s, i was always consistently better than level 60s 70s or prestigers… does that make sense? this game sucks… and why prestige or even give a crap when theres sure to be another call of duty game next november

I’m at prestige 7 now and all I have to say is that k/d ratios are over rated. The real truth in telling wether your good orbit is your win/lose ratio. With all the nuke boosters out there it’s w/e. And especially the glitch servers we use to have during the first month the game was out. Ground War on Rust haha. I’m still nor sure if I want to go all the way. I was thinking if picking a prestige that I personally like because face it. One day there are going to be so many people lvl 10 70 that it’s going to be boring. what ever your reason is of playing this game I recomend that you try to prestiege at least once to get a taste of how truely difficult it is. On a lighter note have dun and I’ll see toyon the battle field! Oh and you can add me if you want my name is my XBL GT which is beastiie. And my win/lose ratio is a 1.51 let’s just say I like to win.

its very simple – Prestige is there for XP. each prestige level is practically starting the game over – allowing you to re-complete challenges an increase your XP more than you would with kills/assists alone. it has NOTHING to do with skill – all you need to do to level-up is play (skill merely determines how quickly you ascend). if you play the game, you WILL level up. so in the end, it comes down to 1 question “What would i rather earn? camou patterns (for primary weapons)? or XP?”

you prestige to continue your level advancement,and to have a cool icon,not to make you better,or to be geeky-ass COD nerd of the year.
Why would you want to stay at lvl 70 forever..?you would just get bored of the game eventually,so they put PM in so you can continue your journey,and to have a cool rank icon,and for the titles and emblems taht come with it.
Some people wouldnt want to give up all their guns,so they stay at 70,others dont care and want to have a fresh start.

The REASON (if you have the nut sack) you Prestige is that you can show that with ANY gun without perks you can still hold your own… How bad ass are you that you’re a 70 after 3 months and have every tool available to kill people with less weapons then you??? I’ve played (according to the game) 5 days and I’ve prestiged twice… I’m going to ten and then I’ll enjoy keeping all my maxed out guns…since I’ve f**king earned sitting at the top…. Grow a pair and challenge yourself, and your fellow players…. POSERS!
