It’s a shame that Modern Warfare 2 has been rife with hackers, glitchers, cheaters, boosters, mods, and all sorts of unscrupulous goings-on virtually since release. Even worse is the fact that nothing seems to be done about it by the powers that be (a patch that takes weeks to be certified just leaves the problems to fester).
One problem that has been prevalent is modded ’10th Prestige Lobbies’ which enables users who join one of these special lobbies to get an enormous amount of points-per-kill and reach 10th prestige within a matter of a few games.
Well, this news from XBOX Live head of Policy and Enforcement, Stephen Toulouse AKA ‘The Pro’, is music to our ears. In a post on the official Xbox forums The Pro addresses the cheaters with a clear message that people who have obtained prestige in Modern Warfare 2 illegitimately, will be given suspensions from Xbox Live. The guys running these lobbies will be permanently banned.
The Pro – “ATTENTION MW2 CHEATERS (and you know who you are)
People who have obtained prestige illegitimately, will be given suspensions. People soliciting other people to gain prestige (whether for free, or for points) will be permanently suspended.
To all those users who are attempting to play MW2 without cheating, please have faith. Hang in there, because the cheaters are being caught and the game will be patched.
p.s., it doesn’t matter if you gained 10th prestige, 2nd, or 1st: illegitimate gameplay = suspension”
That’s awesome news in many people’s books. It may also stop the spam 10th prestige lobby invite threads we keep getting on the forums (and swiftly deleting I might add) and over Xbox Live.
Maybe the fact that this guy admits to getting 10th prestige in a modded lobby and swiftly gets suspended shows that Microsoft are serious about clearing up Modern Warfare 2.
If you get invited to a modded lobby over Xbox Live be sure to report the user and lets wait and see if the cheaters start dropping from the system.

You get additional custom classes every other prestige, yeah? (I haven’t prestiged enough yet to know myself) And I would assume you get these even if you cheat to prestige.
So contrary to what ‘bootyslayer4′ claims, prestiging via those lobbies = cheating, as it does give you an advantage (although slight).

It wouldn’t really apply to this but I wish that IW would make a vote kick option so that the players could deal with hackers that weren’t being picked up by the software (VAC on PC). This would make things sooooooo much better. I don’t know if they have it for the consoles but the don’t on the PC.

@Zukran, I disagree (at least for the PC crowd) most people just want a to play the game hack free. Plus I am talking more than a 50% majority so even those on a persons team would have to vote kick. I leave games all the time even when I am on a hackers team, I think people would be cool about it. And it is easy to tell when someone is hacking and when someone is doing really well.

Theyve only just started to get the psn service up to scratch (still waaaay off) and it wouldnt do there pr image any good if a rival console is reported to play a game better online

@SnappyVirus, if u do it, other people will realize what you have done if you per say play poorly, or over perfect.You either are 10th prestige level 70 and get a low score in a game, or you get caught spaming care packages and people notice your incredibly high score and report.

@=[M]=Headshot!, For the xbox it is alive and well…I just spent the last 3 different lobbies playing a-holes like snappy virus with their care package and emergency drops…I got on here to find a date for the patch because I will not play this game until they fix that…just like the javelin…with all the money iw is racking in on this game they should get their developers to address glitches in a more timely manner and maybe a uat before shipping to find these glitches…but hey I know it won’t be bug free but this is just ridiculous

The Care Package glitch was not fixed. Theres still another way to do it even after the 1.08 patch. Which is why the patch was pulled from Microsoft Certification so they can add to it. 402 said it requires a deep code change which could take a long time. Source: http://www.twitter.com/fourzerotwo

On my website our members (300 +)are all in agreement that we are all tired of the cheaters.
I am happy to be reading this and I can not wait until all this BS is fixed,I am so tired of having to file a complaint after nearly every match.
Another thing I wish they would fix is all the lag and problems with the servers.
I must say I am also happy to be sitting here and reading that there are more out there that is over all this glitching/cheating and love to play the game the way it is suppose to be played win or lose.It sometimes seems there are not many,but now I see there are.

@Matt, If you can get 10+ kills in S&D everygame, thats awesome, but I’d have to see it to believe it. I have over 25 days played and am on my 4th prestige around lvl 35.
I play team deathmatch and change weapons when i unlock ACOG, I cycle through all the guns so i keep getting the bonus points for unlocking a weapons attachments.. best way I’ve found for legitimately ranking up.
99.9% of prestige 10 people right now, Hacked or cheated, the game just hasn’t been out long enough, usually takes 6 months to start seeing legitimate presige 10, and around 40 60 days play time. argue if you can PROVE me wrong..

Who cares if someone hacks the leaderboard big deal. What IW should be concerned about is the bleepin care package or emergency airdrop infinite glitch. Try playing a game of ground war and not have at least 4 people in the match doing it. Thet completly ruin the game. IW needs to do somthing besides patting eachother on the backs and counting stacks of money. Its been months and still no updates or patches that actually do sopmething to solve the problem.

Honestly I love the game but feel that whenever they fix one glich there is another to take its place. Example would be the suicide bombers that where glitching with the stingers…now the “care-package” glich is being used by everybody, when I say everybody I mean every one….I can’t find a lobby or even playlist that does not have a stupid noob dropping care packages until he gets a AC130 or Assual hel. They’re not banning anyone.
They banned that one guy because he posted that he was 10th prestige from a boost. He openly said it, therefore he could be banned.
The modders cant be banned because they just unban themselves within 5 minutes.
And they can’t ban people for boosting because they can’t prove who is legit and who isn’t, and when the hack first started it could infect people, and you could inadvertently wind up in a hacked lobby.
But really, who cares? 10th prestige boosting doesn’t affect anyone else. It doesn’t make them better, it doesn’t help them kill you, get the hell over it, seriously.

It doesn’t affect anyone. YOU can still level and work for the unlocks if you want. And boosters still have to work for the titles. Point is, it doesn’t affect you. Them being 10th doesn’t ruin the game, it doesn’t do anything to you. Especially since you don’t even know for sure if they boosted or not.

I play on PS3 – i deal with the cheater by screaming at my screen and running around like a mad man knifing everyone i run across until i get a payback…
The best way to fix the 10th Hax, (notice i didn’t say prestige – no prestige in cheating) is to change the number of classes you can have based on your first run to 70… 1-10=1; 11-20=2; 21-30=3 etc… up to 7 classes…
Care package glitch – remove the packages or put a timer on how often you can call in a package – or better yet – only allow one of each per game per team… i.e. only one stealth bomb run, one ac130 etc…
Aimbots… well if you play in a game that allows killcam – you see it… while a snap shot to the head while running from a scoped sniper is possible and amazing to watch, if the same person does it time after time after time then you gotta think hmmmm….
Whats even better than just you seeing it… thats when that 10th Hax Player gets the game winning kill…. now all 12 players get to watch his super amazing snapshot headshot from the sniper rifle while he was jumping of a ledge across the map… That of course is when you will want to turn the voice volume down, its going to get loud in the lobby….
In all seriousness… there will always be cheaters – to say you can rid a game of them is nothing more than a direct challenge for them to keep finding ways to do it. They are not doing this to gain anything in the game, they are doing this to torment you… Most of these cheaters probably molested their hamsters, tortured their cat and did unmentionable things to their dog when they were kids. These are the type of people who only find joy in making other miserable.
Instead of getting pissed and screaming, best way to deal with them is to try to play your game without them knowing they are getting at you.
They wont hang around long if they see they are not causing mayhem or getting cursed at. Remember they are there for that reason only – if its all quiet; well it would be like a legit player logging into a multiplayer game by himself… no point to it?
Well thats just my 2 cents…
oh and if you have to ask as to whether your 10th prestige account will get banned, then i would have to say ummmm…. yes, yes it will….
Game Designers need to make a game that lets these cheater think they are playing real people, when in fact they are sitting on a server with scripted character…. while the rest of us can play the actual game the legit way….

One of the reasons Multiplayer is so addicting is that it is fun to gain XP, earn new titles and emblems, etc. The guys that just go and cheat to earn XP and rank up are r****ded, because they basically just got rid of every incentive they had to play the game in the first place. So the good news is that these guys will quickly become bored of the game, and soon disappear.

good news I am sure for older gamers but can be bad news in the wrong hands
Today during a match my son was told by what must have been older gamers that all he had to do was send an in game message to Mr. Toulouse aka the pro and he would get level 10 or whatever. now remeber this to a 10 year old would probably be like me at 40 being offered the crown jewels.
within 10 minutes his account was suspended for 3 months
I spent an hour on the phone with tech support and no dice best they could do was tell me to help him create a new account. And before anyone says serves him right I want to point out that this comes down to cyber bullying on the part of the gamers who instructed him to send the message. To make matters worse they mocked him about it right after he told them the message was sent.
Yes I do agree cheating in a game is wrong but for people to convince a child to make this mistake is just not right in my books.
