Modern Warfare 2 Patch, Playlist Updates and Double XP Incoming
Updates to Arrive with MW2 Stimulus Package DLC
With just a matter of hours until the MW2 Stimulus Package goes live Infinity Ward have detailed exactly what those gamers booting up the first-person shooter can expect to receive.
Come March 30, not only will Xbox users be able do download the DLC but there will also be a playlist update, Ranger maps will be added to HC Headquarters, a title update, and the double XP event that was originally planned for this weekend has been brought forward so you can start earning your double XP from the moment the Stimulus Package goes live.
The Stimulus Package (Downloadable Content)
The first dlc for Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer hits exclusively first on Xbox Live. It’ll be coming to other platforms at a later date as well, but tomorrow morning you’ll be able to download the 5 new maps including Bailout, Salvage, Storm, and my favorite classic maps Crash and Overgrown.
Double XP
Originally planned to do it this weekend, but we’ve decided to throw the Double XP switch early when the new maps hit. So jump online with the new DLC and check out the two new DLC specific playlists.
Stimulus and Hardcore Stimulus Playlists
These two playlists are 100% dedicated to the new maps, and are Double XP enabled. So jump on and experienced the new DLC you downloaded, get double XP, and experience all your favorite gametypes along with some hardcore variants of them.
Ranger maps added to HCHQ
We’re adding a few maps to the Hardcore Headquarters Pro playlist on Xbox Live, allowing you now play all the Ranger maps in this gametype, something I know a lot of users have been asking for! These maps include Highrise, Invasion, Skidrow, and Terminal.
Title Update
Along side the DLC, but something ALL of our users will get, is a title update for Modern Warfare 2. Included in this update is support for the DLC (if you choose to purchase it), as well as some tweaks to the One Man Army perk, some matchmaking updates that will help our international users find more locally hosted games thanks to how ping is now sorted, and various other code updates that will help improve the overall quality of multiplayer on Modern Warfare 2.
There is no exact time you can expect all this, I’d say early morning when traffic is at its lowest, but by the time you wake up and get online I’m sure it will be available to most of you on March 30th! See you online all this week!

@GRANTTHEGRAND18, Because you pay to play is not why you get it early. You get it early because Microsoft 1) sponsored some of the development for this game and 2) paid a fee to have one month exclusivity.
I have a 360 but I am not dumb enough to pay 50 a year to pay to play when I have a PS3 and a PC that I can play online for free.

@tb72, WRONG! many ppl think that but i wont bet my life on it since xbox f**ked up alot by bringing the 360 out full of error wich sony didnt with ps3 EXAMPLE:

Besides due to all those mistakes they had to bring out the black 360 to make it up wich by that time ps3 was on the front door so why wud some1 buy a 360(who already had loads of problems) where they can buy a ps3?

Early on when they announced DLC they said that Microsoft paid for a month of exclusivity. It has nothing to do with the fact that you pay to play. Fair also has nothing to do with it.

@BBS, I’m sorry to have to tell you this but it exclusive only under the stimulus and hardcore stimulus playlists and the ranger maps will be open under headquarters pro and there has been no confermation that the dbl XP will end at a certain time or if its continuous.

@igniteopt26, The tweak will make it less overpowered for n00btoobers. They will most likely make it so that OMA doesn’t replenish ammo for attachments, or they might make it so that you cant have any attachments at all while using OMA.

Downloaded the DLC, cant find a game online, cant check the new maps out in Private Match, and the stupid thing freezes when you go to the MP Menu. Far from impressed!!!!

mp_Crash is the only map I have seen to show a map preview in the pre-game lobby. The rest of the maps are blank..Also cannot select Stimulus maps in a private match…Also note that in the instance of starting a private match, if mp_overgrown is the one showing when I enter private match and start it, I get the message “ERROR:Could not find zone’mp_overgrown.ff’”.

i havent got the map pack yet but when i go to join a game it says something like communication with the sever is interupted. on my friends list it says they are playing. is it “offline” for everyone?

a bunch of buddies are on playing in the new maps but i keep getting the communication unable to join thing……this is horrible. worst DLC release ever!! don’t say “well alot of people are on and this game is just so big that these things happen.” bull……they should’ve planned this out and tested this ad naseum, did they not learn anything from the glitches and major problems this game had when it first came out?

i agree its appalling. so glad i heard about the problems before jumping to buy the map pack. this prooves what money grabbing animals they really are. this must be the most expensive map pack ever and for only 3 new maps its a rip off. hope i can play the original online maps soon which cost me 45 Pound in the first place which is now unplayable due to something with the new map pack. when i try to play the dlc, the lobby finds the people or match and when loading tells me error unreadable disc try cleaning or contact microsoft. my disc is fine no scrtaches PLUS i can play the normal game and online maps perfectly fine, what the fa?

ive played 2 games in overgrowth, the other maps freeze or maybe it just unglitched for those 2 i played, but i’ve have tried 15 times or so after and it keeps coming up the disc error problem. im giving it another day of trying before i start to really look into this crap. if it ain’t fixed soon then im off mw2 and any coming in the future, switch too another of the endless military/war based games.
