Modern Warfare 2 Midnight Launch Parties Enjoyed By All
Modern Warfare 2 Midnight Launch Parties
With the release of all big video games comes the “Launch Party”. Modern Warfare 2′s launch was counted down at several midnight launch parties worldwide, including Union Square in NY and Leicester Square in London. The official launch parties were attended by celebrities, IW developers and the gamers, who played the game while they counted down the minutes until they could purchase it themselves and rush home to play.
The NY MW2 Launch Event kicked of at 5pm and the weather was kind to the large crowd that had gathered in Union Square. In attendance was a slew of celebrities and sport stars including Ice T, James Gandolfini, Jessica Chobot and Cole Hamels to name just a few. Industry insiders included the MW2 developers and the face of Infinity Ward, Robert Bowling, who officially handed over the first copy of the game to an eager punter.
Entertainment came in the form of music by Jessica Chobot and DJ Jazzy Jeff & DJ Questlove, a Game with Fame Session (Phillies vs Yankees) and of-course the game-station tent (where Ice T was spotted glued to MW2). Gamers also had the chance to win “exclusive Infinity Ward and Modern Warfare 2 items” in a raffle, but those that didn’t win could get their purchase signed by the IW staff to ease the disappointment of being a loser!
This guy seemed pretty happy, and has good reason to. After waiting eight hours at the front of the queue he got presented with a free LE Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 by Robert Bowling.
London Launch Party
MW2Blog was lucky enough to make it to the London MW2 Launch Event which took place outside the Vue cinema in Leicester Square. Infinity Ward Animator Chance Glasco, Dom Jolly, Goldie, and none other than the voice of Captain Price himself, Bill Murray were also there enjoying the extravaganza, while Dizzy Rascal was on hand to entertain the crowd musically. Even though the weather was typically cold a large crowd turned up to the event, which also spread to near by Piccadilly Circus where two fully-kitted-out soldiers stood outside what looked more like a Modern Warfare 2 bunker than a HMV store. These guy’s also made an appearance in their MW2 jeep.
It’s been a long but strangely enjoyable wait for Modern Warfare 2, but that wait is over, the most anticipated game of the year has finally arrived. We hope you all enjoy the game as much us we will! MW2Blog will continue to bring you Modern Warfare 2 related news on a daily basis, as normal.
See you online soldiers!

The game’s unreal. I lucked out and got a chopper gunner killstreak from an airdrop i one of my first matches. Got me up to an 18 kill streak right away and all i had was the 3,4,5 killstreaks unlocked… Brutal. Also got the AC130 from an airdrop but the match ended before I got to fire a shot. Looks like the big killstreaks are going to be pretty frequent!

Who preordered? All this hype is no accident. Infinity Ward put together one of the best launch campaigns ever. They will be rewarded with lots and lots of sales

You know, it seems that since Modern Warfare 2 has been released, this website’s purpose may be obsolete. As I am excited to play Modern Warefare 2, I will miss coming back to this site to find new info on the development of the game.
Good luck to all on playing this game in the future!
