In case you thought the recent departures at Infinity Ward might mean we won’t be seeing the second Modern Warfare 2 map pack we were promised back at E3 09, you can rest easy.
Although the release date of late 2010 is a bit vague, it’s confirmation that Modern Warfare 2 ‘map pack 2′ will… eventually, arrive. During a company financial earnings call, Activision COO Thomas Tippl said that the back half of the calendar year will include both the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops as well as the new Modern Warfare 2 map pack. “Black Ops is in development by Activision’s Treyarch team. The second map pack, is being made by Infinity Ward” Tippl said.
This is also backed up buy a Tweet sent out by Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling a few days ago…

When asked about the $15 price of the first Modern Warfare map pack, the Stimulus Package and whether it will stick, Tippl said: “The $15 price point has still provided a fantastic value to gamers.. we think that has worked.” No further details about the map pack were offered.
Earlier in the call, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick stated the ‘Call of Duty’ series has sold 17 million map packs total on Xbox Live. He also said there has been over 1.75 billion hours worth of Call of Duty multiplayer games on Xbox Live.

I think the first map pack cost 400 Microsoft points too much. 800 is a better price point. Especially when 2 of the maps were from cod 4.

@comer93, I’m afraid it’s the same deal as the Stimulus Package. Xbox gets it a month earlier than PS3.

Learn to play the game you f’ing whiners. Campers are the easiest targets and if you don’t have the skills or the foresight to eradicate them in a game you need to go get a Wii.

i loved mw1, but mw2 was a pretty big disappointment, i didnt buy the map pack. i loved WAW as well, so i have high hopes for Black Ops. hopefully treyarch takes a lesson from mw2 and sticks to the WAW formula, instead of trying a f**k bunch of s**t that makes gameplay unbalanced and frustrating

No way do I buy a map pack with old maps in it again, at least not at premium prices. Looking forward to MOH and BO, so the new map pack should avoid those release dates IMO. Hoping for a mid July release.

no way map packs are worth 15$ 2 were from the old mw1 nothing new was added to them it was pointless to add microsoft points fro 2 maps

I highly doubt I will get this map pack. Stimulus was a big enough disappointment already. It’s $15 each, so 15*2=30. That’s 1/2 of Black Ops just in map packs.
