Remember back in November when we reported that ‘hidden’ game modes were found lurking on the PC version of Modern Warfare 2? Well, i don’t know how, but footage of the very same game mode - Global Thermonuclear War – has been spotted being played on the Xbox 360!
Does this mean that Infinity Ward put the extra modes on the disc so they can roll them out as a future playlist update, or could they be there ready to be ‘enabled’ as part of DLC? What are your thoughts?
[UPDATE] Nick from Abstract360.com, the owner of the above videos, contacted MW2Blog with a comment about the GTNW videos. Basically, those crafty hackers have been at it again.
“I do have a few hackers/modders on my friends list who have managed to hack into the game and enable the game mode for themselves. Although, if you join a modder/hacker hosting one of these matches you are able to host your own room as long as you do not start a public match, leave the multiplayer menu, or leave Modern Warfare 2 overall.” He went on to add “It is well known on many modding websites.”

If this is a mode on REAL MW2 Game Mode, and not just some hack; this should deffinetly be ENABLED on ALL different platforms by IW. Also, as an added incentive to stop the BOOSTING AHOLS that play in most of our Free For All Matches these days, make it so EVERYONE on the winning team gets credit for setting off the Nuke. This will make it ALOT easier for all of us to get the emblems and titles associated with the Nuke.

lol no. Getting the Titles/Emblems associated with Nukes is supposed to be hard. I mean seriously wtf everyone gets credit for the nuke? That would be 10 times worse than boosting. All a person had to do is to just join a game and wouldn’t even have to play to get a nuke which retarted.

Maybe they could remake the game mode and make it so the first player who got to the Nuke and capture it would NOT get his own personal Nuke.
I think the nuclear weapons should just go boom, kill everyone and end the game without some specific player getting kills.

@Wraith, I’ve played it before with my friends and you don’t get any xp or titles (right now) because it is held as a private match, so it acts just like any other private match would.

@cod4isepic, the video owners ruined the game? WTF are you talking about. All the owners of the video did was post what is already available to everyone. this game mode is encrypted on all disks. Its just not accesible from menus. If Infantry Ward plans of making people pay for this game mode they are out of there mind. We pay for the disk and it comes with this gamemode but they want us to pay more to use it?! Yea right.

I dont think this will be added as a DLC.
In the brady games strategy guide book there were screenshots of this mode. The people that made that section of the book (Sea snipers) were allowed to play the game and get some info on the game about 2 or 3 months before the game came out. So why would they show them DLC before the game even came out? IW would obviously want to keep the DLC contents secret so it could be a surprise once they announce it.
So this most likely was just an unfinished game mode.

Seems like the hackers have found IW little secret. The DLC that is promised for sometime this year will be GTW and a few other things. The source code is already there is just needs unlocking. Oops, that’s already been done.

i am really pissed of that we are not able to get this now I payed the 60 dollars for the game and i should be able to use evey game mode on the disc we shouldnt have to pay an extra ten bucks for it

Hopefully these glitches will be fixed as soon as possible as it makes the game unrealistic and unpleasant for most. Once the producers of the game find out about these spots where people can go off and the map and such they should most definitely fix the issue as it gives an upper hand to other players who take the time to find these glitches. Obviously all games will have problems and way to cheat but these things need to be fixed.

I would like this game mode for maybe the rangers, task force 141 or navy seals to have to defend the nuke while the terrorists/russians have to try to capture it and kill everyone… just an idea. Oh does anyone know some russian quotes? I want to know them so I can say them when I am playing.

Infinity Ward does not seem like a company to do that, but rather a company of high standards . I think they wanted to have them on the disc so that they could make new maps to better suit them. It could also be the marketing side that told infinity ward to take them out for DLC its really unclear. I just hope they do not start finding maps hidden on the disc to.

i saw this ages ago lol didnt think to say anything though. the maps are also already on the disc, dont remember wehat they are called though, oh yeah and more spec ops missions are too, so i think you just pay the ms points and instead of it downloading, you get an update which enables it all

Its not that people will get credit for a nuke, its just an objective like on sabotage. its the same thing mixewd with a little domination, the nuke part of it is only to make it “more interesting” no one gets credit for the nuke, it just ends the game and the team that set off the nuke wins

OK…yes they actualy did ruien it for the dlc….they were going to be putting it on but then they saw how many of modding and hacking went on..so they ended uhp throwing that idea in the garbage…=/ this is why i hate modders….thanks to them…we dont get that game mode…

already payed 70 euro’s for the disc alone and since its on the disc i should be able to play it(lame ass IW)
but if they gonna charge another 13 euro for the game mode and the maps then its not fair-.-

Don’t blame Infinity Ward for any price issues, blame Activision for sucking money out of people… because thats what they do. They fired the two best guys at IW and now they think they will still get just as much $$$ out of us fans. I promise you I won’t be buying anymore COD games if they arn’t MW quality.

Mw2 aint that great,when it 1st came out 900,000+ people played it, now you only see 350k max on in the day and only 60,000 on at night, thats 600,000 that got bored of this game in less then a year lol, no wonder why they bring a new COD out every year.Oh and you cant forget COD4, 5000 people total playing it lol what a joke.
