Modern Warfare 2 Final Reviews The Links You Need

Modern Warfare 2 Reviews

As you can imagine, the launch of a game as big as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 creates a bit of a storm. With the game now “officially” available in the stores, websites are climbing over themselves to publish reviews of the shooter. Well we are going to save you the trouble of finding all those reviews and post the links right here.

  • Gamespy – Highly entertaining single-player; intense, memorable action; new Spec Ops mode lots of fun; multiplayer improved quite a bit.
  • IGN – Visually, it’s also stunning, with a few caveats. The sheer scale of this Michael Bay-huge canvas is never less than awe-inspiring, dishing out a scale of missions that few developers would even consider sticking on the drawing board, and delivering them with style and aplomb.
  • Telegraph – All told, Modern Warfare 2 crosses into the must-have category of video games effortlessly. It offers an unmatched shooter experience, a compelling story mode, a slick package of mini missions and a multiplayer which is pretty much unparalleled in depth.
  • Gamesradar – Anyone who already has issues with the single-player ‘style’ of IW’s games will still find fault with the scripted, linear experience, but in terms of sheer drama and show-stopping set-pieces accompanied by laser sharp FPS controls, Modern Warfare 2 is your daddy.
  • 1up – Though still a blast, the single-player campaign isn’t the reason thousands of people still play the original MW on a daily basis. Create-a-class, new perks, and fresh customization options add an element seemingly more at home with a MMORPG than a console shooter.
  • GiantBomb – Since it’s building on such a strong framework, it might be hard to go completely nuts over the release of Modern Warfare 2. But if you’ve played a significant amount of Infinity Ward’s last game, the improvements are numerous and they are supremely satisfying.
  • KotakuLike Infinity Ward’s previous Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2 is an explosive roller coaster ride of an action game. It peaks with frenetic chases and bottoms out with slow, steady sniper mission and, with a campaign length on par with Call of Duty 4, never overstays its welcome.
  • G4TV – Infinity Ward has delivered a follow-up that feels pleasantly familiar yes, still surprises, delights and innovates in ways that few sequels to best-selling entertainment properties have dared to in the past.
  • Gamespot – Environments are well-designed and detailed, though many textures don’t look particularly good upon close inspection. Modern Warfare 2 isn’t a beautiful game, but it looks great in action. The diverse levels not only provide varied sights, but they are cleverly designed to allow the action to flow at an exciting pace.
  • Joystiq – Graphically, Infinity Ward hasn’t reinvented the wheel here … but it has made that wheel look a heck of a lot better. From the photo-realistic bloodsplatter on the screen to indicate you’ve been hit (no more red haze), to the textures and colors that pop off the screen, the imagery of Modern Warfare 2 is dazzling.
  • Destructoid – If the campaign’s story was shaped better and made more sensible, and if the online Perks were just a tiny bit more balanced, this would be a near-perfect game, no shadow of a doubt. As it stands, however, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is an utterly stellar achievement that knows exactly what its audience wants, and delivers in abundance. Truly, this is the biggest game of 2009.
