New Modern Warfare 2 Community Site Launch Date Confirmed

Infinity Wards community manger (Robert Bowling) confirmed some details about the new Modern Warfare 2 Community site launch date. The Infinity Ward forums were rife with speculation on when the new site will launch, alot of people thinking it will be after E3 or with the beta, Robert Bowling gave the Modern Warfare 2 fans this statement ..

“We’re currently working on the Modern Warfare 2 Community site. It will be here at Infinityward.com, but this will all be gone and redone. So your MW2 profile and game data will be here along with a lot of community features.

In the meantime, you will notice some smaller changes happening to the forums / blog section here, but those will be minor in comparison to the full community site that will launch with Modern Warfare 2.” - Infinity Ward forum thread

In another thread he went on to say ..

“Modernwarfare2.com is the destination for trailers. All community stuff (and videos / screenshots eventually) will happen at InfinityWard.com. There will be a community tab added to ModernWarfare2.com which will link back here.

Once the full community site launches. Infinityward.com will house EVERYTHING, and Modernwarfare2.com will be mostly a marketing site. All information / interaction with us will be here.”

When asked – Any specific time frame as to when all of this will happen? Soon or not until the release date of 10 Nov?

“Gradually throughout development. The major changes won’t come until the launch of the game, as that will be the game-to-web features. As for community features, we’ll be upgrading the forums / blogs throughout the next month. So you’ll see minor changes here & there as we make starting this week.” – Infinity Ward forum thread

So there’s confirmation that the new, all singing, all dancing Modern Warfare 2 Community website will launch with the game on 11-10-09. It will be hosted at InfinityWard.com, not ModernWarfare2.com which will be used for promotion.
