Mission 7 – The Hornet’s Nest

You’re back in Brazil as Roach in this mission as you make your escape from the favelas. Rojas has been interrogated so he’s of no more use to you and your allies. Follow Soap up the nearby hill toward the radio tower to reach an open space full of enemies looking to take you out.

Hold off the enemies in this area from the rooftop with the barriers around it. Whenever you start taking too much damage simply drop behind the cover of the barriers to avoid death. Your priorities here are taking out the enemies firing the machine-guns in pickups and the snipers perched around the area. Once you’ve cleared everyone out continue further and take out the enemies that are located just below where you come from. It’s time for another shootout, so use whatever you can as cover until all threats are neutralized and resume following Soap.

Getting to the other end of the street you turn onto while following Soap is your objective here but it’s not going to be easy since your enemies have made this run a virtual gauntlet of gunfire and grenade blasts. Take out as many enemies as you can from a distance before making your way up the street. Look out for enemies that pop out of the buildings along the way; toss grenades into open windows and doors to take them out swiftly. In the grassy area after you’ve made it through the street take out the enemies scattered around there, once again taking special care to eliminate the enemies on the backs of pickups with the machine-gun turrets.

Head over to the market and take out any enemies that you encounter as you continue following Soap and the others through the Brazilian slums. Use this opportunity to obtain the Colonel Sanderson Achievement/Trophy by killing seven of the caged chickens in 10 seconds while you’re here. The best way to do this is to use a grenade to take out the first chunk and switching to a pistol to finish the chain off. Once you’re done, keep heading forward toward your eventual escape.

As you continue your forward progress you’ll notice your the helicopter that’s going to pull you out of Rio but it can’t land since there is too much enemy resistance. You must get to a new landing zone (LZ) before your mission is complete. Eliminate the enemies in the area near where the helicopter tried to land originally and keep moving forward following Soap and your comrades. As you race across the rooftops you fall to the street, unarmed, where a mob of villains closes in on your location; from here on out your goal is to run as fast as you can to reach the helicopter and escape.

Follow the objective markers that appear periodically in the direction you need to go to reach the helicopter, sprinting as you do so. Don’t worry about enemies here since you have nothing to fight back with. Once you get close to the copter a timer appears telling you that you have a very limited amount of time to make it. When the chopper is within jumping distance leap over the gap to grab onto the ladder and end the mission.
