Mission 10 – The Gulag

This mission takes you to a gulag (prison) where you must extract prisoner #627. Helicopter is the insertion method of choice here as you, alongside Soap and the rest of the crew, prepare to fight your way through the old fortress to reach your objective.

Your first order of business is clearing out the SAM sites atop the towers around the gulag from your helicopter. Aim your sights at the enemies perched near the SAM sites and send a bullet flying into each of their skulls.

After you are placed inside the grounds of the gulag start making your way to the entrance to the subterranean portion of the prison. Use your grenade launcher attachment to take out any enemies you encounter trying to hinder your progress and follow Soap and the rest of the gang to the gateway leading down into the bowels of the gulag.

Keep heading further into the prison, looking out for any enemies you encounter. As you reach a room full of computer monitors let Ghost attempt to locate prisoner #627. Once he figures out where he is, head out into the cell block area only to be confronted by a closed gate. As Ghost works on opening the gates for you enemies attack your position. Take them out as you wait for the door to open then cross the bridge to the armory.

At the armory there’s another locked gate for Ghost to open. Use the wide variety of weapons in the room to take out the enemies firing at you from the corridors surrounding the armory. Once Ghost successfully opens the gate, grab a riot shield and use it to protect yourself as you cross the bridge to the other side. Use your shield to kill the enemies there and head over to the ropes on the left side of the next corridor to rappel down to the lower level.

Enter the darkened area on the lower level and activate your night vision goggles (NVG). This area is full of enemies so take everyone out as you keep moving further. As you’re walking through this area an explosion rocks the building and creates an opening in ceiling, negating your need to use NVG.

Follow Soap down the hallways further into the depths of the gulag. When Soap stops and instructs you to plant a breaching charge, do so. As the charge detonates, take the enemies out in slow motion and prepare for an intense shootout in the prison showers.

Use grenades liberally here to push back the oncoming enemy forces armed with riot shields. Flank the enemies as well by heading around the tile lined pillars to behind them. To further complicate matters, there are a number of enemies attacking from the walkways above so use your assault rifles to take them out. Once the shower area is totally clear hop down into the hole at the opposite end to access the lowest level where prisoner #627 is being held.

Follow Soap, as you have been throughout the mission, down the hallway to reach another wall to breach through. Place breaching charges on it to find prisoner #627.

After rescuing prisoner #627 it’s time to make your escape. Sprint down the hallways, ignoring the enemies you encounter until you reach a dead end. When Soap creates an exit through the ceiling, clip onto the rope and let it pull you up into the escape copter to end the mission.
