Latest Modern Warfare 2 Patch 1-18-2010
Infinity Ward have released the latest patch for Modern Warfare 2 today, fixing a number of hacks, glitches and also a touch of weapon re-balancing. Robert Bowling issued a statement via Twitter and the IW Forums informing Modern Warfare 2 fans that a much needed patch is live on the PC and currently being certified by Microsoft and Sony for the Xbox 360 and PS3, respectively.
Robert Bowling – “We’ve updated the PC version of Modern Warfare 2, including the following fixes:
- - Care Package, Emergency Airdrop, and Sentry Gun marker grenades sprint speed normalized.
- - Sentry Guns: Improved placement detection, preventing cases of Sentry Guns inside geometry.
- - Model 1887: Bling using Akimbo and FMJ combination now has same range and damage as non-Bling Model 1887s.
- - Improved player collision removing cases of getting into geometry and ‘elevators’.
- - Mouse latency tweaks for more mouse movement consistency. (PC-ONLY)
- - Fixes to prevent various texture (PC-ONLY) and XP hacks.
These fixes, excluding the ones I’ve labeled as (PC-ONLY), are currently in test for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions as well. Before you ask why there is a delay from PC to consoles, it’s because we can update IW-NET directly and therefore the fastest. The console versions require additional testing through their respective manufacturers.”

I am so glad for the Care Package fix… that was so gay. You could unload into them but they could sprint fast enough to still knife you. The 1887 “sniper rifle” was stupid also. Glad these things got fixed.

Honestly I think that people were gay fo b***hing about the models that’s how they are in real life and they took real life estimates when they first put them in the game. If you didn’t like then then you just shouldn’t have used am I am
guessing that most of the people ho complains about it where people who sucks and didn’t have enought skill to kill the person using them all you had to do was back up out of it’s reach it was that simple and I am guessing that they just didn’t like them because you didn’t have the level to gave them just wait to get there there was a reason they Made it the 67 level you get they were supposed to be good honestly I had no problem getting killed by them because it help push me to want to get them but not that they aren’t nearly as good I don’t have much to look forward to at high levels because I the guns I use regularly come from when you first start with the execption of ocationallu using the raffica. It was a very sad day when iw change these and I hope that soon they will come to there sences and change them back

@Jon, the thing is that the models require NO SKILL AT ALL to use with that long range. It’s not the players with skill that uses these, it’s the players without it. And it’s things like this that makes this game worse. The stuff that eliminates the need for skill. 1887s, G18, Last Stand, Ninja, HB sensor etc..

@Jon, I didn’t think that 2nd grade kids played MW2. This is the longest run-on sentence i have seen since i was in 2nd grade. Here’s some advice for you Jon: stop playing MW2 and stay in school. @Jon, Thats how they are in real life?? Do you ralize that a real-life shotgun has the spread the size of basketball at 50 yards. If they made them as they are in real life no one would use anything else. Also I don’t see how you could say that running around with a shot gun in each hand with magical no hands reloading is anything at like like real life. In a video game, ballance overrules reality.

Care packaging would be okay with a little tweaking.
1. You run faster than holding a gun but not crazy fast. anyone who’s worn body armor knows it is just plan silly the speeds you can achieve with that ‘lil grenade.
2. You stab and lunge correctly; not Duck, tellaport, then punch the guy your stabing in the crotch. (If you have never been CPK-ed this is what it looks like to others, I promise)

Who in the international Xbox360 community cares about any of this outside of the US when the most important feature of MP (matchmaking) STILL does not work nearly 3 months after release?
Im mean come on IW, I find in truly appalling that you didn’t care to test the international matchmaking system before release even after you swore black and blue to the tens of thousands of concerned gamers that it would all be OK and if it wasn’t you’d fix it right away.
Maybe you should have spent some of that time and money on a beta demo instead spending it all on adverting and pandering the the juvenile minority which lead to the creation of a faulty game designed as a noobs wetdream.
I think it will just be more lies and money grabbing from you lot like it was with CoD4.

Since theres no mention of it – lets make it so easy everyone does it!
Earn a care package (or better yet emergency air drop)
switch from your weapon to the care package (d-pad right once)
stand next to something you have to press ‘a’ to climb.
while in the process of climbing – double tap the d-pad right so that you switch from care package to weapon and back again (ending up with the care package in your hand when you stop climbing).
throw care package
use care package
you will now have another care package! Just repeat the steps above over and over! Unlimited care packages. (or better yet, unlimited sentry guns, unlimited emergency air drops)
They should definitely patch this soon. I just tested it a few minutes ago and there were care packages everywhere on the map. everyone was doing it.

You should be able to run faster while holding a care package grenade. It’s lighter and easier to run with than with a rifle. Sure it’s shouldn’t be as fast as it is now but still, people should still run faster with the CG than with a two-handed gun.
