Hidden Game-Modes On Modern Warfare 2 Disc?
It seems that after the l33t PC hax0rz got their hands on Modern Warfare 2 and revealed the dev console, new game modes have been found lurking on the disc!
After some crafty hackers got into the developer console within Modern Warfare 2, setting up dedicated servers and generally playing with the settings, someone apparently tried to create some new game modes with success. From within the added console, a number of hidden gametypes like Global Thermonuclear War and variations of capture the flag and escort were also found..
A post on the official Infinity Ward forums claims that the developer console can be used to activate a number of elements that aren’t present in the game in its unaltered, console-less state, including several multiplayer modes.
By starting private matches and inputting a number of console commands, players are supposedly able to turn on a “Global Thermonuclear War” mode, an objective-based gametype that has players scrambling to capture – and detonate – a nuke placed somewhere on the map. Assassination/VIP-escort modes and variations on capture the flag were also allegedly unlocked and tested.
The post has since been removed from the IW forums, but the text (and associated commands) survive on ModernWarfail2 along with instructions on how to set up the hacked dev console.
This leads to the question, are those things found in the dev console simply edited and discarded content, or, could they possibly be future DLC, just sitting and waiting? We will keep updating as new information surfaces.

This is most definitely the upcoming DLC. Why would there be unused game modes on MW2? Seems to me that we owe the PC guys a round of applause for finding this.

Wouldnt Global Thermonuclear War be just like headquarters with only one capture?

@Auptyk, no, it appears that like that but i interpret it like this:
when you are capturing it goes up but if you are killed it doesnt go back to 0 but stays at, say, 25. then when you get there again it will keep going up. the other team also does this and its the first to get to 100 or whatever the setting is.

So will you get to be a computer hacker in this new game type? Also, will the WOPR be making an appearance.
I am surprised they also didnt include a ‘nice game of chess’ instead.

It´s funny how MW2 has been hacked like hell! I belive if IW would have chose to use dedicated servers, people would be happy and don´t mind about what small, non-bothering files lies beneath the surface.

@sam, You get that by calling in a tactical nuke in a game either once or twice I cant remember… But it is not a glitch it is defenietly just a regular title.

you get it after 2 nukes…I got 2 nukes in one day and got that one…lol. the 1st day i had the killstreak unlocked i got 2. Take a Harrier, Chopper Gunner, then Nuke and it soooo easy.

we are a clan of 30 members who looked forward to codmw2 coming out but when it came out and there was no master server was have given it a major miss. I myself have got the game but it was sent to me by some else who hated it (i refued to buy it). I have run a server for cod games since the first game was released (cod/coduo/cod2/cod4) we are dissuted in the way iw has messed up the server listing i hope for there sake they sort there stuff out before the next release.
We all know how it makes us angery when the host of the server your playing on quites and you loose your score and ranking points (NOT FAIR TO LOYAL PLAYERS).

Ive played the global thermal nuclear war map. I picked ground war and a team death match starts shortly after it restarts and says global thermal nuclear war. Its not that interesting though one capture point in the middle of the map who ever captures it first wins the map. I was also able to play Arena hardcore, this was much more interesting the first few minutes you just camp and try to survive if you die you need to wait to the next round. After a couple of minutes a capture point becomes available whoever captures it or kills of the other team wins the round first team to 5 rounds wins the map.
