There’s nothing better for renewing the enthusiasm for a shooter game than a map pack! Well, it looks like the leaked Modern Warfare 2 DLC video that surfaced last week may well have been legit! In a press release sent out by Activision today comes confirmation that the first Modern Warfare 2 Map Pack, which hits Xbox Live on March 30, will be called the Stimulus Package.
Begin the countdown to a new infusion of Call of Duty! The Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2 Stimulus Package will strike worldwide on March 30. Representing the first new multiplayer maps from the biggest entertainment launch in history, Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package will release first on Xbox LIVE®.
Additionally, Silver Xbox LIVE members who have not yet experienced the exciting adrenaline rush of “Modern Warfare 2” will be able to try it with a Multiplayer Unlock event running from March 12 to March 15.
This news goes a long way in confirming that the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package video that was leaked last week is indeed real. The video shows pictures and a short video of two old maps from Call of Duty 4, Crash and Overgrown, and three new maps, Complex, Compact and Storm. Catch the leaked video after the break.

@comer93, Seriously doubt this my friend. Microsoft shelled out for this, and Sony didn’t – simple as. But hey we pay for Xbox Live and PSN is free, so swings and roundabouts.
Activision and/OR Infinity Ward are just following the cash before this franchise dies me thinks. Especially after their *ahem* recent troubles. So expect to get gouged by the DLC and with little support on anything else!

@people are stupid, Microsoft pay for these exclusives for their customers. Microsoft customers PAY for Xbox Live, and so MS get them these exclusives to sweeten the deal.

@comer93, cymr0 is right, Microsoft paid for the 30 days… so we just get it later. However as a PC gamer this is always how it has been so this really isnt a big deal to me. All three World at War packs came out 4 to 5 weeks after the console packs.

Switched over to BFBC2 last week when I just couldn’t take any more glitching, boosting and just sloppy matchmaking. That in itself has been problematic with the recent BFBC2 server issues, but I hope these are merely teething problems.
The DLC title does pique a bit of interest. But alas, I fear it may only be some new maps and nothing more exciting. Some US based maps with some interesting special ops missions would get me interested again – but only if they also solve the core problems I mentioned.
Releasing new maps would just be like putting lipstick on a pig.

@cymr0, No one boosts on ps3, and i havent played in a match that has been sloppy lately. Also, I havnt seen some one glitch since the one rock glitch in afgan and because of gay ass cry babies like you they are solving every glitch they have made wether they made it on purpose or not.

IF they sold the game in the US only, and I had imported this game myself, then you’d have a valid point. But to bias their marketing towards the US market as heavily as that (basically giving away free DLC = $15), is something that I would object to.

Ouch! BFBC2 has announced they’ll be releasing their map pack on the same day, and for free to users with a VIP code. Most users got one free with the game.

BFBC2 hasn’t *had* to release new map packs, I think they released it in sync with MW2 to directly target their new map packs. This (I imagine) is to address the folks that switched to BFBC2 and will switch back to MW2 to look at the new DLC.

Look I don’t want to knock BC2, but their blog is kinda nonsense. Sure they have offered these free, but you know what that brings their map total up to? 12 after two “free” map packs. In comparison MW2 shipped with 16 and is now adding 5 more. Plus they mention that DLC will be at a price in the future.

Fact: Map pack coming out on March 30 as DLC(Downloadable Content)
So, XBOX live user’s have to pay for this cause MS “shelled out the dough”? It’s a baiting tactic, for 30 Days, MS will be able to make people PAY for the DLC, they will EASILY get there money back that they paid for exclusivity.
While users with PS3′s and PC versions will NOT have to pay after the 30 days is up!
XBOX gamers are really the ones actually getting shafted here, with Activision\Infinity ward taking the risk of upsetting there PS3 and PC follower’s and Microsoft taking a risk on getting back the money they paid to have exclusive rights.
It’s a game, but it’s a business too!

How do you know for certain that PS3 user will have to pay too? Can the same be said for PC users? Seeing as you do not really care, you may not respond.
Either way, I was simply showing the MS baiting tactic which I am sure they hope would force die hard addicted mw2 gamers to perhaps buy a xbox360 instead of waiting for there ps3 or pc version dlc updates.
Who knows, some shifty kid might even figure out or obtain the ps3 and PC updates, and upload them somewhere for the world to take. That would be a pretty slick move and simply destroy the thought that the executive idiot at MS had when he decided to pay Activision/IW for the 30 day exclusive rights.

From my understanding, theres going to be six completely new maps, along with four cod4 maps as a 10 map pack, that includes new gun camos, new titles and emblems as well..
so any way you look at it, this dlc completely shat all over bfc2′s debut by bringing their map total to 26 maps by the end of march. 26 bro. bfbc2 has 12 if you get the vip.

If you can read, it was already said that the map pack will include 3 new maps and 2 CoD4 maps. (imo not worth it)

all of you are r****ded… there is going to be 5 new maps Crash and Overgrown from CoD4 and 3 new ones Storm, Compact, and Complex. and there IS going to be new callsigns and titles… how do i know this? @fourzerotwo on his twitter a few months ago was asking people what would they want for new titles and emblems. also there is going to be another map pcack in a few months after the stimulus package and it will have Shipment and Pipeline or (another one) from CoD4 and a White House map and two other new ones. is there going to be new guns camos and attachments? most likely not but a lot of people are begging IW to bring back the M40A3 sniper rifle. But i mean who doesnt want that? it rocked. thats all the official info i have.
