This week’s Xbox Live ‘Deal of the Week’ sees the first discount on the two Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map packs, The Stimulus Package and the Resurgence Pack. If you want to get the map packs before Black Ops hits the streets, now is the time at 50% off (until Monday, October 11, 2010.)

Normally 1200 MS Points, the two map packs are now 600 MS Points ($7.50) and features three new maps and two remade CoD: 4 maps in each pack.

Hit the Xbox Live dashboard ‘Deal of the Week’ section to take advantage of the 50% off Modern Warfare 2 map packs deal, or you can use these links to add the packs to your Xbox 360 download queue: Stimulus Package, Resurgence Pack.

Yes it is fake, but funny.

Those modders have been at it again with their JTagged Xboxes. Here at MW2Blog we’re not advocates of modding, but this one is actually pretty cool. They’ve only gone and made a Modern Warfare 2 Zombie mode! So, here’s how it works…

18 people race to the top of rust, first 9 to hit the top become zombie killers. The 9 that don’t make it to the top become zombies who can only knife. If the zombie kills you, you become the zombie which means you have to fight back to get to the top of rust.

A lot of people are bound to want to play this modded Modern Warfare 2 Zombie game mode. The bad news is that unless you have, or know somebody with a modded Xbox that knows how to do this mod, you’re not going to be able to.

All’s now said and done. The second, and probably last, map pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the Resurgence Pack, is now live on all systems.

After a months worth of exclusivity on the Xbox 360, PlayStation and PC Call of Duty gamers can now enjoy Modern Warfare 2 online with all the available maps for the game. With the Modern Warfare 2 Resurgence Pack’s release also comes new playlists and Double XP.

The Resurgence Pack will hit PlayStation (Europe) and Australia tomorrow, July 7th. See you online.

If you’re tired of getting pounded by killstreak rewards in Modern Warfare 2 you’re in luck because just moments ago Infinity Ward added two Modern Warfare 2 ‘Barebones’ playlists. The two new playlists, called Barebones Pro and Objective Barebones Pro, are in a variety of game modes and also allow for Xbox Live Party Chat.

While they’re not quite ‘barebones’ modes in the full sense of the word (you still get to use perks,) being able to play Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer games without those pesky killstreak rewards in the sky will be a godsend to the more hardcore First-Person-Shooter gamer.

Fans of Capture the Flag might be dissapointed to learn that in order to make room for the new Playlists CTF no longer has it’s own Playlist. It’s still in Team Tactical, Objective Barebones Pro, and Resurgence playlists. Just not its own playlists anymore.

The Barebones Playlists are only live on the Xbox for now but they will hit the Playstation 3 and PC alongside the Resurgence Package DLC on July 6th. Check out Infinity Ward’s announcement below.

Infinity Ward

Just uploaded two new playlists to Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer that allow you to play public matches with no Killstreaks in a variety of game modes. This update is available currently on Xbox Live, and coming to alongside the Resurgence Package DLC for PC and Playstation 3 the week of July 6th. The exact details of each new playlist are below:

Barebones Pro:

Play Team Deathmatch and Free-for-All. All Killstreak rewards are disabled.

Players: 4-8

*Xbox LIVE Party Chat allowed

Objective Barebones Pro:

Play Domination, Demolition, HQ Pro, and Capture the Flag. All Killstreaks rewards are disabled.

Players: 8-12

*Xbox LIVE Party Chat allowed.

The time has arrived, the second Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map pack, The Resurgence Pack, has just been released on the Xbox 360. Infinity Ward’s Creative Strategist let word out via Twitter just moments ago.

The resurgence pack costs $15 and adds 5 new multiplayer maps to Modern Warfare 2 – Strike, Vacant, Carnival, Trailer Park and Fuel. The Resurgence Pack will be available on PS3 and PC at a as-yet unannounced date.

Xbox’s ‘Game With Fame’ events give you the chance to battle celebrities on your favorite games over Xbox Live. The latest event features Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and a rather unusual gamer. The chances of actually getting a game with him might be pretty slim, but none-the-less, Ozzy “The Prince of Darkness” Osbourne and his son Jack will be playing Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox Live June 8th.

Yes, we do mean the crazy guy from Black Sabbath that famously bit a doves head off, that gibbering wreck from the hit reality TV show ‘The Osbournes’. Competition… we think not, but fun I’m sure.

Infinity Ward have decided to flip the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 double XP switch in honour of the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. Creative strategist, Robert Bowling, put the word out via Twitter this afternoon to give the community the heads-up on the imminent XP-fest.

fourzerotwo -Memorial Day weekend is coming up, which means 3-DAY WEEKEND! We’ll be flipping on double XP for Modern Warfare 2 on all platforms!

The latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 double XP weekend will run throughout the 3-day weekend 28th -31th May, and will be on all platforms. Get your chips and energy drinks to the ready because you’ve got some serious XP to earn soldier!

Next up… Resurgence Pack on June 3rd.

The latest episode of Inside Xbox, the Xbox news series, went live on the dashboard today and features the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Resurgence pack video. The five minute video is all Resurgence Pack and is host to Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward’s creative strategist, who runs you through all the details. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Resurgence Pack details are in and we’re guessing Infinity Ward are big fans of recycling. Along with 3 new, there will be two more old CoD4 maps coming to Modern Warfare 2 on June 3rd.

The Resurgence Pack features 5 maps and unsurprisingly will stick with the 15$ price point. The old maps which make a return from Call of Duty 4 are Vacant and Strike, while the new maps are called Trailer Park (a tight, constrained map), Carnival (a big fairground) and Fuel (a sniper’s paradise).

The Resurgence pack launches June 3 for Xbox 360, while PC and PS3 owners will have to sit tight for further details on their respective launches, but you can expect them to arrive 30 days after they hit the Xbox, minimum.

Strike

Strike is a city block set in the Middle East, with a large courtyard, a street in the center, several open buildings and a pathway to flank opponents.

Vacant

Vacant is a map with an outside that features several metal containers, while the inside is a warehouse with two large rooms and a small courtyard in the center.

Trailer Park

This map is based on the Boneyard level from the campaign. The area will be condensed, with corridors that become a maze, and sections that can easily become ambush points. The level is designed for close to mid range combat, as well as ambushes and traps.

Fuel

Based on the oil refinery level form the campaign, this map will have two distinct areas. One will be more of an open area for ranged battles, and the other a side is a warehouse with corridors for close combat.

Carnival

A huge map set in an amusement park featuring all new art work and level design. The daytime map will feature wide open areas and several highpoints that will make it ideal for snipers and long range battles. The area will include a roller coaster, a fun house, and bumper cars.
