Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Has The Fun Factor!

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Recieves High Praise

The guys over at IGN have been busy writing an article on “The Greatest gameplay of All-Time” where they’ve awarded games that have the best and worst gameplay ever.

Infinity ward can give themselves a pat on the back because Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare received the award in the Highest Fun Factor category.

Call of Duty 4 didn’t do anything especially new in terms of the gameplay, but that was never its intent. Infinity Ward instead set out to make the ultimate cinematic white knuckle FPS, and in that regard succeeded completely.

Call of Duty 4 was amazing from start to finish, but what really made it a shoe-in for this category was its online multi-player. Not only did the game ship with lots of well-designed maps, but it had a great selection of modes. Above and beyond the usual variants (Domination, Team Deathmatch etc etc) you could also tweak the game all the way from a HUD-less simulation to an out and out arcade shooter. The persistent ranking system worked wonderfully well too, giving players a reason above and beyond the immediate action for logging in time and time again, while the perks brought player-specific enhancements.

There’s a reason this was such a huge hit online – Call of Duty 4 was (and still is) incredibly good fun. It deserves all of the praise it has, and continues to receive.
