Activision Considering Online Service For CoD
Modern Warfare 2 Publisher Considering New Service For CoD Franchise?
Apparently there has been a survey going around the internet which hints that Modern Warfare 2′s publisher, Activision, is considering a online service for its Call of Duty series. The validity of this survey has not been verified but such a service could bring timed exclusive content, as well as premium extras to the multiplayer side of the Call of Duty franchise.
The survey specifically mentions that the supposed service would “enhance the multiplayer experience and provide exclusive access to a group of gameplay enhancements.” This includes early access to expansions and betas, and exclusive access to character skins, enhanced stat tracking, game modes and even “support for competitive play.”
The service may come with a monthly fee attached to it or may come bundled with a copy of Call of Duty for a flat rate. The monthly fee idea is especially interesting: in March, Activision’s Bobby Kotick hinted at the possibility of a Call of Duty MMO.
“…when you think about other properties that we own and control, like Call of Duty, and what would be the natural evolution of a property like Call of Duty into a massively multiplayer environment, and how do you monetize that,” Kotick stated at the Morgan Stanley Technical Conference three billion Internet years ago.

WTF you need to quit being money w***es, flat rate or I’m not buying just like cod 5 I know how good the map packs are but I didn’t buy em cause I already payed 80 dollers on a collectors edition. Y’all make great games but why don’t you start giving back to the people who make you who you are.

Unnecessary they had a game that we all loved but if they do this, it will ruin it for them and gamers as well. If they charge, especially in this economy we have today, there is gonna be a lot of bad energy flowing around.

I really dont like the sound of that, i mean being able to change the player skins is a great idea and i like that, but i definitely hope infinity ward stays away from that MMO. Along with losing me and many other consumers, i dont think many MMO fans will want to buy a companies first shot at an MMO game…

Dont make us pay for this monthly fee it will ruin the game and most of the people who buy your games arent the richest people in the wourld and wont have any money for the fee exspecialy after we have to pay for x-box live.

If I have to pay a monthly fee, I won’t buy it. If I have to pay for updates for a game I allready paid $99 for, I’ll boycott every game you make after.
Games companies allready treat their customers like criminals by plastering digital rights management all over their software (wich does nothing to stop piracey, and only hurts the people who actualy pay for the games).
It disgusts me.
P.S. it’s disturbingly obvious that “TheComingCurse” was paid to leave their comments.

@ admin, Probably by Activison.
@ Dave, there are people who get paid to pretend to be consumers and try and sway public opinions in open forums. Have you ever been in a bar and seen someone go “hey, these new (insert drink name here) are really good, a round of (insert drink name here) for the bar”.
“DAMN this is a smart idea. Gotta hand it to ‘em, I’m sold.” and “It sounds completely optional guys, why are you complaining?” seem like textbook examples.

but dont you want to spend your whole paycheck to play some game i mean its completely optional so that makes it better. after all you were tricked into paying $60 for what you probably thought was the complete game and now you have to pay even more just to get the full experience but as long as its optional to have the half assed rip off version its okay. hahaha i enjoy it when they treat you guys like sheeple.

Do not make modern warfare 2 an MMO. Leave things like that to battlefield and starwars. There is a reason modernwarfare sold so many copies. Dont ruin the sequel by making it an MMO. Its a horrible idea. My favorite thing about modernwarfare, was how much tactics i put into my kills. I love all the sneaking around and taking out people without praying and spraying. It makes the game feel realistic and unlike any other game. There would be know tactics if you had eight hundred people running around on one huge map just tearing everything apart. I love the feeling of being able to sneak up on a team of guys and kill them all with one clip. Not going to happen in an MMO. Previous call of duty games have not been MMO’s and they were successful. Leave it that way.

I think that this is only a good idea if either it is thrown in with the Special Edition copy that i already paid the hundo for it. If it is a monthly fee screw it. Throw it as a seperate disc to load on your HD, kinda like what halo did with the halo 2 map pack. There’s their extra bone. 20 bucks at most, leave monthly fees out of it.
